JOB TITLE:

UW Foundation - Employment Manager

JOB PURPOSE:

As the University of Wyoming Foundation Employment Manager, you will play a pivotal role in building a workplace that thrives on trust, service, and a shared commitment to excellence. Charged with attracting and nurturing top-tier talent, you will help build and sustain a dynamic culture that empowers a growing team of professionals dedicated to advancing the mission of the University of Wyoming. This is more than an HR role-it's an opportunity help the UW Foundation cultivate a workplace defined by collaboration, innovation, and continual growth. Reporting to the Vice President for Financial Services, this role oversees the Foundation's Human Resources programs, ensuring the implementation of policies, procedures, recruitment, and training initiatives for the division or department. The position also supports upper management as needed and acts as the primary liaison with the UW HR department.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Lead HR Initiatives: Under the direction of the Vice President for Financial Services, spearhead activities related to staffing, employee education, training, management development, employee relations, affirmative action, and performance management.
  • HR Expertise & Support: Provide valuable HR guidance and information to the management team, ensuring smooth and efficient operations within the department.
  • Consultation & Representation: Answer HR-related questions, consult with department leaders, and represent the department in personnel-related hearings and investigations.
  • Onboarding Excellence: Develop, plan, and facilitate engaging onboarding programs to ensure new employees feel welcome and equipped for success.
  • Employee Guidance: Advise and counsel employees on handbook policies, employee rights, and the dispute process, helping them navigate their options for resolution.
  • HR & Payroll Management: Process or supervise delegation of HR & payroll actions for job changes, promotions, transfers, disciplinary actions, and separations, ensuring accurate and timely handling.
  • Exit Interviews & Separation Management: Conduct exit interviews to gather insights on employee separations and maintain comprehensive personnel files for administrative professional positions.
  • Organizational Development: Manage the hiring process, employee performance reviews, job audits, and training programs, working closely with upper management to drive growth and development.

SUPPLEMENTAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Master Policy and Compliance: Develop expert knowledge of government, University, and specialized regulations impacting personnel and financial operations. Serve as the go-to resource for interpreting and applying these policies to ensure smooth, compliant processes.
  • Be the Key Connector: Act as a critical liaison between departments, campus leadership, and external agencies, building relationships that drive collaboration and success.
  • Embrace Diverse Opportunities: Tackle a variety of dynamic, value-driven tasks that enhance operations and provide opportunities for personal contribution and growth.

  • Foster Engagement and Connection: Create meaningful opportunities for employee engagement and collaboration through innovative event planning. Organize and coordinate engaging initiatives like quarterly staff meetings, "Breakfast with Leadership," and other team-focused activities, ensuring every detail - including refreshments - contributes to a welcoming, inspiring environment.

REMOTE WORK ELIGIBILITY:

This position provides vital support to campus customers and requires the successful candidate be available to work on campus.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.

Experience: At least 5 years of HR experience.

Required licensure, certification, registration or other requirements: HRCI or SHRM certification.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • In-depth knowledge of Human Resources concepts, policies, and procedures.
  • Experience with employee hiring procedures, ensuring smooth onboarding processes.
  • Experience with employee development strategies, performance management systems, and best practices.
  • Proficiency with HR computerized systems and emerging technologies.
  • Time and records management principles to ensure efficiency.
  • Experience with providing expert-level HR consulting and strategic advice to leadership and employees.
  • Analyze reports and data metrics to track and optimize HR effectiveness
