Job Description: The nurse extern program at BH Floyd is designed to bridge the journey from nursing student to nursing professional. Participants will have the opportunity to build on clinical skills while working alongside nurses, participate in shadowing non-nursing patient care roles, receive on the job training, and partake in classes offered. Familiarize yourself with how you will function in your new career! Qualifications: Must be enrolled in a nursing program, graduating on or before May 2026. BLS for Healthcare Provider required, will provide training. Levels of Extern Program: Level 1:Extern role; completed during the summer before graduating; work with preceptor and shadow various areas of the hospital. Level 2:Nursing Assistant II role; after summer externship; training provided for phlebotomy and EKG capabilities.
