MUST:

Experienced CT Technologist

1+ years of experience as a CT Technologist

1+ years of experience as a CT Technician

Working knowledge of radiologic equipment and testing.

Proficient knowledge of medical imaging, related terminology and technical knowledge is required.

Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.

Must possess good verbal communication skills to interact in a professional manner with patients, co-workers, equipment vendors, physicians, and radiologists.

Skill in properly positioning patients to provide quality imaging.

Must possess basic computer knowledge.

Ability to provide superior patient care and effectively work with patients and their families as well as interdepartmental personnel in a cooperative manner.

Graduate of an AMA approved school of Radiologic Technology.

Health Care Provider CPR certification.

Licensure from the Maryland Department of Health and Mental as a Medical Radiation Technologist.

Registered or registry eligible by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists; Advanced certification in CT is required.

CPR and MD Licencse is required

DUTIES:

Demonstrates clinical competence in all section protocols established by the radiologists.

Applies detailed knowledge of anatomy to produce images of high quality.

Assists in mentoring of new technologists and other support staff.

Pleasantly greets and introduces self to patients, verifies their identification and the correctness of the examination to be performed.

Explains examination to the patient and family if present.

Ensures any required consent forms are signed prior to the examination.

Prepares contrast media and administer to patient either intravenously or through other body cavities; always assess the patients condition prior to administering a contrast media or performing the CT examination.

Positions patient for the proper CT examination and instruct patient as to the proper physiological requirements for the procedure.

Performs CT examinations as prescribed by a physician.

Uses a variety of radiation protection and shielding devices.

Provides patient safety and protection in accordance with federal and state regulatory agencies, accreditation agencies and health care organizations.

Updates patient history and record unusual conditions/limitations, document begin and end examination times in the RIS and add any billing charges if applicable in the RIS.

Evaluates images for acceptable quality, correct parameters, appropriateness, and completeness.

Forward all images via PACS to the Radiologist for review and reporting.

Ensures clean and safe environment practicing Infection Control and Universal Precautions.

Has a knowledge base in factors which govern and influence image production.

Selects the appropriate technical factors on an individual patient basis.

Understands and utilizes the ALARA principles.

Responsible for the safe and competent use of all radiology equipment.

Performs the quality control/quality assurance of CT machine to ensure good operational order and report any hazardous conditions or breakdowns to management in a timely manner.

Maintains a clean and tidy work environment.

Maintains necessary inventory of supplies for assigned room or workstation, rotate stock in an orderly fashion, and eliminate outdated items.

Reports shortage of materials to management as soon as possible.

Engages in continuing education about their professional affiliation.

Maintains appropriate annual credits for education, licensure and / or registry renewal.

Assists management in the initial CT ACR accreditation and reaccreditation process as needed.

Perform other duties as assigned.
