Benefits Specialist
General Description: Under direction of the Admin Director Benefits, responsible for administrating Benefit programs including medical, dental, vision, defined contribution, leave of absence and other benefit programs available ensuring they support the strategic goals of OU Health and legal compliance. Essential Responsibilities: Responsibilities listed in this section are core to the position. Participates in implementation of employee benefit programs that are designed to maintain OU Health's objectives and competitive position in the marketplace while ensuring legal compliance. Communicates and interfaces with employees and third party vendors to include - third party surveys, benefit plan consultants, vendors, legal advisors, and administrators. Assist with development, on-going administration and communications of the OUH Wellness Program; including physical, recognition, career, financial and emotional pillars. Assist employees and leaders with benefit issues; including monitoring Total Rewards in-box. Assists with monitoring benefits service center cases to ensure timely resolutions. Assist Leave of Absence Specialist with employee issues providing back-up support as needed. Responsible for Benefit's section of New Hire orientation, including content and scheduling. Collaborates on employee benefit transitions, including but not limited to orientation and administration in the event of acquisitions and divestures of groups of employees, units or lines of business. Assist with special projects as requested.
General Responsibilities:
Minimum Qualifications: Education: Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business or related field or an equivalent combination of education and work experience. Experience: Three (3) years' Human Resources experience with a minimum of one (1) year benefits experience. Licensure/Certifications/Registrations Required: CBP or PHR preferred. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Proficient in Microsoft Office Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Workday experience preferred. Excellent customer service skills. Experience with self-insured medical plans, voluntary benefit programs and 401(k) administration. Excellent knowledge of benefits administration policies, practices, and procedures. Strong knowledge of Federal, state, and municipal privacy laws and the applicability to the day-to-day operation of benefits areas. Ability to interface and communicate effectively in a clear and concise manner with all levels of employees, managers, vendors, consultants, and legal advisors. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are necessary along with very good facilitation and administrative skills. Ability to work with confidential materials and employee information and maintain confidentiality at all times.
