Job Title: Quality Engineer

Location(s): Santa Cruz, CA

We are seeking a Quality Engineer who will help us build next generation in-vehicle driver experiences for the drivers who use mobile delivery application for package delivery. We are looking for an individual with a passion for delivering high quality mobile apps and integrated automotive software solutions. Our testing needs require the ideal candidate to enjoy on road/in vehicle testing using our product both for feature validation and performing the role of an client Delivery Associate doing real world package deliveries using our electric delivery test vans. The ideal candidate has experience validating Android Mobile and Automotive software both in test environments (Lab) as well in vehicle testing (On Road Testing). We expect the candidate to perform Manual test case regression (70% of time) from our Santa Cruz, CA office on test benches and perform Release regression and feature testing (30% of time) from our fleet of test vans in Bay area delivering packages to actual customers. Testers are expected to execute test cases, log detailed bugs, and work with QA and Dev teams to validate and repro Production issues. The candidate will work both autonomously doing on road testing and with other QA team members. Testers are expected to understand "Grey Box" testing and have knowledge of multi tier technical architectures. The ideal candidate will have experience leading testing projects working with groups such as Product Management, User Experience Design, and Development to understand customer usage models and technical implementation, all while developing test plans and test suites that approximate real-world environments and regression tests. Software QA Engineers are also responsible for driving the software development process toward quality-centric methodologies effectively creating test reports that communicate test progress, metrics, and issues.

Responsibilities:


  • Evaluate product functionality and create test strategies and execute test cases to assess product quality.
  • Lead the testing of large-scale systems, create test plans, test cases, and drive continuous improvements to the quality assurance processes.
  • Provide detailed bug reports and debug across multi tiered test and production environment.
  • Communicate with engineering teams, partnering technical teams to gather requirements, and with management to provide regular detailed status reports on project progress.
  • Provide test summary reports that communicate key quality indicators, risks, and mitigations to leadership.
  • Estimate and communicate project timelines.
  • Engage with a team of quality engineering professionals to ensure the highest quality product delivery.
  • Work across timezones with offshore resources.


Requirements:


  • Experience in manual testing.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field or equivalent work experience.
  • 4+ year of experience working as a Quality Assurance Engineer.
  • 2+ years experience in a test or development lead role as part of a product development organization. developing test methodologies, writing test plans, creating test cases, and debugging.
  • Experience working with prototypes and maintaining multiple build test and configuration setups.
  • Experience testing Bluetooth/BLE technologies.
  • Experience in cross-team cooperation (Internal and External).
  • Strong communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Knowledge of QA methodology and tools.
  • Infotainment or automotive software test experience.
  • Valid US drivers license to support in vehicle "on-road" testing.
  • Able to perform package deliveries over a 8-10 hour period in both Ride-A-Longs with Delivery Associate and able to operate Delivery Vehicle independently.
  • Candidate must complete Motor Vehicle Report, Criminal Background Check, and Drug Test to support in vehicle "on-road" testing.
  • 10% travel potentially required to test vehicles at test tracks.
  • Defect Tracking experience.
