Operations Management and Capital Programs (OMCP) supports the missions of the University of California, San Diego, by providing core infrastructure services, critical to the current and future needs of the campus, impacting the Campus and Medical Center population of approximately 75,000 students, staff and faculty. The Main Campus, Elliott Field, Point Loma, Scripps Institution of Oceanography, La Jolla and Hillcrest Medical Center's multi-billion physical assets consist of over 20 million gross square feet of space in nearly 900 buildings, dispersed across approximately 2,000 acres of land holdings. Campus Planning is charged with land use, physical planning, capital and space planning/management, and environmental planning; encompassing strategy development and regulatory, approval, and compliance responsibilities. Campus Planning provides direction and guidance during the entire progression of capital projects from early planning to pre-concept and through post occupancy. Campus Planning works in concert with various departments across the campus to plan for and deliver a multi-year, multi-billion dollar, capital improvements program transforming the built environment with expanded health care, housing, academic and research buildings, and mixed-use facilities aimed at enhancing the student experience, engaging the community, expanding research prowess, and improving the delivery of advanced healthcare. Campus Planning's overarching mission is to prepare and advance campus land use plans so that the environmental quality, aesthetic value, and functional effectiveness of the university is safeguarded. POSITION OVERVIEW As a key member of the Campus Planning team and reporting to the Director of Capital and Space Planning, the Senior Manager, Campus Space Management is responsible for strategic space management, development of campus space guidelines and policies, development/application of utilization metrics and report requirements, and creating space standards applicable for all campus constituencies to ensure the optimal usage of the campus space portfolio as a critical campus resource. The incumbent will work closely with campus leadership, peers, and stakeholders to lead, drive, and execute an effective and holistic space management ecosystem for the campus. As the campus subject matter expert, the incumbent must possess deep knowledge and experience in institutional and/or educational space planning and extensive understanding of space utilization strategies and vision for future needs. Specifically, the incumbent must have extensive experience in space management practices; knowledge of educational, research, and administrative space data and trends; experience using cutting-edge technology tools for space planning and management; understand competing demands of multi-use facilities; and have knowledge of industry standards and best practices of space utilization in the ever-changing university landscape. The incumbent must demonstrate experience working with and achieving objectives for students, researchers, faculty, and administrative staff, and navigate the delicate balance of competing interests, while meeting goals in an effective and efficient manner. The incumbent requires strategic planning abilities, while building relationships and leading teams tasked with the implementation of strategic space management plans. The incumbent is a collaborative partner who confidently articulates thoughts and ideas, which demonstrate subject matter expertise, and has the desire to fully support the campus mission and vision. The incumbent must demonstrate resourcefulness and innovative thinking and will apply management and organizational skills to collaborate with clients to achieve win-win solutions. Provides expert level expertise, advice and counsel to senior management on the development, revision, refinement and / or amplification of the long range master plan. Represents the local and / or organization-wide administration in community and governmental relationships. Is considered a subject-matter expert within the organization and is often recognized as an expert externally in the industry.
Pay Transparency Act Annual Full Pay Range: $116,000 - $224,200 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%) Hourly Equivalent: $55.56 - $107.38 Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
