LOCATION: Remote - this is a home based, virtual position that operates from 8:30am-5:00pm EST. This person must live in North Carolina or within 40 miles of the North Carolina border. GENERAL STATEMENT OF JOB
The Staff Accountant - TCL provides a professional level of accounting and analysis of assigned accounts payable and general ledger functions. This position performs various accounting tasks related to reviewing, processing and maintaining accounts payable records for various programs. This position works closely with the Housing and Transitions Departments to ensure compliance with program requirements. This position is also responsible for preparing journal entries, performing general ledger account reconciliations, assisting with audit preparation, and performing other accounting duties as assigned. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Payments:
- Process Community Living Assistance (CLA) payments to TCL participants. Assist with CLIVE payments as needed.
- Process payments related to the following funding sources: Money Follows the Person, DAC Re-Entry Program, and TCL Program.
- Communicate with vendors on issues related to payment
- Work closely with Housing Department to review items needing resolution and provide reports as requested
- Ensure proper approvals and supporting documentation is maintained in accordance with TCL requirements
- Process Non-UCR payments.
Credit Card Expense Tracking:
- Track credit card purchase made by Housing staff by funding source on behalf of participants
- Meet with Housing Department to review items needing resolution and provide reports as requested
- Reconcile credit card activity to monthly statement
- Maintain accounting records related to the following funding sources: Money Follows the Person and DAC Re-Entry Program.
General Ledger Accounting:
- Prepare journal entries and reconcile general ledger accounts for assigned balance sheet areas
- Prepare various financial reports for use by management and other reports as assigned
- Participate in annual financial statement audit and all other audits and external settlements by responding to questions and providing requested information
Other Duties as Assigned. KNOWLEDGE OF JOB
- Working knowledge of accounting principles and general office procedures
- Experience with computer operation and Microsoft Office products
- Ability to organize a large volume of documents and workload to meet payment deadlines
- Ability to exercise judgment and discretion in establishing, applying, and interpreting policies and procedures
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with agency personnel, officials, and the general public
QUALIFICATIONS & CREDENTIALING REQUIREMENTS
- Graduation from high school and three years of work experience in an accounting position with direct responsibility for accounts payable
OR
- An Associate's degree in accounting
Or an equivalent combination of education and experience . PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Close visual acuity to perform activities such as preparation and analysis of documents; viewing a computer terminal; and extensive reading.
- Physical activity in this position includes crouching, reaching, walking, talking, hearing and repetitive motion of hands, wrists and fingers.
- Sedentary work with lifting requirements up to 10 pounds, sitting for extended periods of time.
- Mental concentration is required in all aspects of work.
RESIDENCY REQUIREMENT: The person in this position is required to reside in North Carolina or within 40 miles of the North Carolina border. SALARY: Depending on qualifications & experience of candidate. This position is non-exempt and is eligible for overtime compensation.
