Job Description

The Clinical Practice Coordinator provides administrative/clinical assistance to physicians/mid-level practitioners/clinical/clerical team members/patients while adhering to a prescribed treatment plan in accordance with established policies and procedures. This position is responsible for the coordination and management of patient flow operatives to meet department needs to ensure an efficient operation of the department by directing clinical and clerical functions and activities, interpreting policies and procedures, standards and regulations as applicable. This position will perform duties in both clinical and clerical areas.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares patient for provider; maintains supplies, rooms, and medications; performs and tracks provider orders and results; assists providers and nurses; performs chart documentation, review, and maintenance; performs front office duties when required and completes miscellaneous duties as assigned. Maintains patient flow in the clinical areas.
  • Administers treatments as ordered by the providers. Responds to patient refill requests and phone calls in a timely manner. Responsible for reporting all results to the patient and contact within timely guidelines. Performs Drug Screens, Audio Exams, Pulmonary Function Testing, Respirator Fit Testing, Breath Alcohol Testing and office based medical testing to include urinalysis, strep screens, flu screens, etc., as ordered by the providers and/or corporate clients. Correctly completes appropriate forms, requests and requisitions according to standard protocol.
  • Ability to motivate and independently problem solve with staff, patient, customers and providers.
  • Appropriately operates clinical equipment to include but not limited to BP machine, EKG machines, audiometer, breathing machine, urine analyzer, glucometer and office equipment such as computers, phones, fax and copy machines.
  • Assist patients and their families, physicians, and staff in all medical areas. Examples: office visits, scheduling of tests and labs, meds, exams, specified treatments, and follow-up.
  • Cleans, packages, and sterilizes instruments and procedure supplies per OSHA standards. Cleans exam rooms and equipment as per OSHA standards. Consistently and systematically evaluates the environment for safety hazards.
  • Appropriately labels and provides insurance info for any referral to lab, x-ray, or specialist. Refers according to insurance guidelines and protocol. Completes work efficiently and accurately at the pace indicated by the flow of customers.
  • Implements program goals, processes and policies that have been established by the medical and administrative directors. Effectively communicates system wide updates by holding Daily Huddles and/or other method of effective communication.
  • Responsible for the quality assurance program of the practice and actively participates in the hospital safety and infection control committees and must interface with the personnel responsible for those committees. Oversees the maintenance of accurate temperature logs, all vaccine and medical supply and/or other temperature regulated areas.
  • As the site leader responsibilities included but not limited to: identifies emergency situations and provides care within legal scope of practice, provides direct patient care, collaborates with providers, managers and leaders to provide leadership to team members, investigates and resolve complaints - Acts as a liaison between patient, corporate clients, team members, and manager, participates in unit performance improvement activities, relays all information to the appropriate parties in a timely and proper manner, appropriately and courteously screens solicitors for relevance to organization needs, ensures and contributes to daily line up/huddle activities, and assist in recruitment of team members, including interviewing and training.


Qualifications

Minimum Education

  • Technical Diploma/Certificate Medical Assisting, Military trained corpsmen Required

Minimum Work Experience

  • 4-6 years Clinical healthcare experience Required

Licenses and Certifications

  • Registered Medical Assistant (ARMA) Upon Hire Required or
  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA_AAMA) Upon Hire Required or
  • Medical Assistant (NCMA_NCCT) Upon Hire Required or
  • Clinical Medical Assistant (CLMA_NHA) Upon Hire Required or
  • Medical Assistant (RMA_AMT) Upon Hire Required and
  • Medical Assistant Membership (AMT) Upon Hire Required
  • BLS for Healthcare Providers (BLS) American Heart Association Upon Hire Required

Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

  • Knowledge of anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, medical law, medical ethics, human relations and patient education.
  • Skills and ability in administrative and clinical medical assisting.
  • Able to communicate effectively through written and/or verbal communication.
  • Basic Computer skills.
  • Knowledge of and ability to perform EKGs and obtain accurate blood pressure readings.
  • Knowledge of health plans and managed care plans.
  • Knowledge of computer-based data management programs.
  • Superior oral and written communications skills.
  • Knowledge and understanding of medical coding guidelines
  • Skill in assigning CPT, ICD-10 and HCPCS codes
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Knowledge and experience with Electronic Medical Records.
  • Ability to motivate and independently problem solve with staff, patient, customers and providers.
