We Require
One year of experience in public relations Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, public relations, public administration or a closely related field A combination of post-secondary education and/orjob-related experience may substitute for theminimum qualifications on a year-for-year basis

Job Contributions
Conceptualize, write, and execute communications plans for MCDOT projects and programs for a broad range of audiences and stakeholders using communications tactics such as public meetings, special events, construction notices, newsletter articles, letters, social media, press releases, project Create and deliver ongoing project-specific communications to keep stakeholders informed of MCDOT activities; acquire the most accurate and comprehensive public input using public involvement techniques that facilitate public trust/awareness regarding MCDOT services, facilities, and projects fact sheets, talking points, and website content Assist with composition/writing, input on graphic design/layout of marketing/outreach/educational pieces, Transportation Advisory Board coordination, etc. Attend transportation project team meetings as the communication subject matter expert, evaluate communication needs, and develop public involvement/communication strategies Create basic designed items, such as fact sheets and project maps, to support public involvement outreach for MCDOT projects Represent MCDOT at public meetings and present information and ideas professionally and knowledgeably. Represent MCDOT to media, including on-camera, consultants/contractors, other jurisdictions and agencies, and members of the public Maintain and archive a variety of files and records on projects and related information Participate in after-hours and on-call rotation for emergency communication needs
Working Conditions
Work is typically performed in a business office setting Occasional travel to other local jurisdictions may be required May be required to attend events outside of normal working hours and participate in on-call rotation to cover after-hour emergencies May be exposed to loud noise, noxious odors, unsanitary conditions, chemicals, electricity, moving mechanical parts, varying weather conditions, and other related conditions and situations. Position is subject to atmospheric conditions: Fumes, odors, dust, mists, gases, or poor ventilation Must possess or have the ability to obtain by the time of hire, a valid Arizona driver's license and have an acceptable driving record Ability to exert 20-25 lbs. occasionally, 10-25 lbs. frequently, or up to 10 lbs. constantly
