Pay Range

$19.00 - $28.00 per hour

Salary offers are based on the candidate's equivalent experience and internal equity with other employees within the same job classification. The position is eligible for overtime compensation for all hours worked over 40 in the designated workweek.

Check out our shift differential pay in addition to our base wage:
* An additional $1.25 per hour for hours worked between 3PM - 11PM
* An additional $2.00 per hour for hours worked between 11PM - 7AM

We Require

  • Completion of an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) program meeting the Arizona Department of Health Services (AZDHS) requirements and pass the national registry of EMT (NREMT) exam

  • Valid Arizona EMCT license upon hire

  • Experience in skilled care, acute care, primary care physician practice, prehospital, or hospital emergency medical care

  • Experience in a correctional or detention setting

Job Contributions

  • Assist in providing basic emergency medical care during medical emergencies in a detention setting

  • Operate under the current scope of practice of the medical direction protocols for emergency medical care technicians

  • Administer, monitor, and assist patients with the self-administration of medications through their administrative medical director's delegated authority

  • Gather patient vital signs, obtain specimens, perform ordered treatments, and apply dressings

  • Work closely with a multidisciplinary team to monitor patients

  • Recognize and document the signs and symptoms of medical needs warranting additional professional expertise and notifying the appropriate medical staff of changes in the patient's condition, reaction to medications or treatments, and of other significant incidents

Working Conditions

  • Ability to work inside a jail environment, consisting of working near inmates and other staff and indoors in a confined area

  • Ability to respond to emergencies

  • Ability to get on the floor to perform CPR/chest compressions, push medical equipment, climb stairs, and lift patients on a gurney

  • Will be assigned to various clinical locations in the Phoenix area within a 5-mile radius
