Certified Surgical Technologist

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse, the Surgical Technologist scrubs for surgical procedures. Surgical Technologists maintain instrumentation integrity and sterile technique intraoperatively. In addition, Surgical Technologists performs a variety of other duties related to preparing for the surgical patient and maintaining the OR environment.

EDUCATION:

1. Is knowledgeable in correct use of washer/sterilizer and sterilizing solutions.

2. Knows how to operate, care for and sterilize equipment used in the OR.

3. Assumes responsibility for annual recertification of CPR.

4. Assumes responsibility for knowledge and use of emergency equipment and supplies.

EXPERIENCE

Must possess active and current Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification.

LPN's must have a minimum of one year experience in general hospital nursing or experience as a surgical scrub.
