We are seeking a Control Systems Engineer with a system engineering focus to lead the definition, decomposition, and management of control system requirements across complex, ultidisciplinary commercial HVAC products. This role is responsible for articulating what the control system must do-not how it is implemented. The ideal candidate will act as the critical link between product requirements, system architecture, and detailed control design, ensuring alignment between stakeholders, functional teams, and end-user needs.

The candidate will collaborate with cross-functional team members, driving towards releasing innovative HVAC products. The candidate must have good communication skills and work well in a group setting, with minimal supervision. Handles complex issues and problems and refers only the most complex issues to higher-level staff. Possesses comprehensive knowledge of subject matter. What you will do:



  • Collaborate with cross-functional team members, driving towards releasing innovative HVAC products
  • Define high-level functional requirements for control systems based on product specifications, customer needs, and system behavior
  • Translate stakeholder requirements into clear, testable, and traceable control system requirements
  • Collaborate with product management, product engineers and control design teams to ensure alignment across the system lifecycle
  • Develop and maintain control system requirement documents (functional, performance, safety, diagnostic, etc.)
  • Lead control function decomposition and interface definition for cross-functional implementation (mechanical, electrical, software)
  • Develop system use cases, functional flow block diagrams, and state machines to capture desired system behavior
  • Participate in FMEA, HARA, and other safety/reliability activities to ensure robust control strategies
  • Work with validation and test teams to develop verification plans and ensure requirements coverage
  • Maintain traceability between requirements, design, implementation, and validation artifacts
  • Participate in design reviews, architecture discussions, and change control processes

Minimum Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in control systems, systems engineering, or product development
  • Proficiency in developing and managing system-level requirements for control systems
  • Strong understanding of system dynamics, embedded systems, and control theory fundamentals
  • Experience using requirements management tools (e.g., IBM DOORS, Jama, Polarion)
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts for diverse audiences
  • Collaborative mindset with strong systems thinking and analytical skills


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field
  • Familiarity with model-based systems engineering (SysML, MBSE tools, etc.)
  • Exposure to HVAC, automotive, aerospace, or industrial control systems
  • Experience with simulation and modeling tools such as MATLAB/Simulink, even if not directly responsible for implementation
  • Hands-on experience working in cross-functional teams across the V-model or Agile product development lifecycle
