About the College/Unit/Department |
The Jere W. Morehead Honors College at the University of Georgia serves more than 2,800 undergraduates each year. Through small classes, internship programs, travel-study funding, research opportunities, faculty connections, scholarship support, early registration, and alumni networks, the Morehead Honors College opens doors to the best the university has to offer. Along with providing opportunities to Honors students, the Morehead Honors College also serves all
UGA students through two key offices housed within the College: the Center for Undergraduate Research Opportunities, supporting faculty-mentored research across all disciplines; and the Major Scholarships Office, connecting students to external scholarships. Founded in 1960, Honors at
UGA has a long tradition of excellence and service to outstanding students. In 2024, the Morehead Honors College celebrated the 50th anniversary of the Foundation Fellowship, the most prestigious undergraduate scholarship at the University of Georgia. In 2024, the Morehead Honors College was ranked the No. 1 honors program or college in the nation by College Transitions. |

Position Summary |
Reporting to the dean of the Morehead Honors College, the Director of the Foundation Fellowship oversees the day-to-day operations of the University of Georgia's most prestigious undergraduate scholarship, established in 1972. This position fosters a community of scholarship and leadership by providing intellectual, cultural, and service opportunities in an environment conducive to learning and personal growth through shared knowledge and experience. The position builds awareness of the scholarship among potential recipients and the broader academic community; recruits and trains scholarship selection committees on eligibility requirements and relevant
UGA policies; works with colleagues to ensure the accuracy and timeliness of scholarship distributions; and evaluates the scholarship program regularly, ensuring continued excellence. |

This position manages the daily operations and budget of the
UGA Foundation Fellowship program in the Jere W. Morehead Honors College, including supervising a program administrator and graduate assistant. This position's duties include meeting regularly with students and coordinating Foundation Fellowship activities and events. Tasks include fostering community within UGA's long-established, highly successful top scholarship program, including recruitment of prospective Fellows; coordination of the Foundation Fellowship Interview Weekend and the Mid-Term Foundation Fellow application and selection processes; recruiting and training readers and selection committees on eligibility requirements and relevant
UGA policies; advising students on national and international opportunities for furthering their academic and experiential learning; and engaging regularly with multiple constituent groups, both internal and external to
UGA. |

Overseeing orientation and welcome activities for incoming Fellows, including student mentor-mentee pairings; coordination of two annual retreats and monthly activities; and planning and engaging in overseas travel study opportunities for students over Spring Break and Maymester. |
