Primary Purpose of the Organizational Unit
The UTLC is the central unit supporting campus teaching and learning initiatives. The UTLC supports and advocates for a scholarly and effective teaching culture that: embraces innovation and inclusion, facilitates connections and leadership, and promotes an exploration of pedagogy and practice dedicated to learning. Additionally, the UTLC oversees Department Head/Chair/Director support in conjunction with the Office of the Provost; the Alumni Teaching Excellence Awards; the University Faculty Mentoring program; the University Academic Leadership training; and special projects related to teaching policy and improving academic outcomes (e.g. Teaching Effectiveness).
Position Summary
The position is responsible for the oversight of initiatives related to the advancement of teaching and learning ( ATL) with an emphasis on (but not limited to) general education and student development. This includes, but is not limited to, the development and facilitation of pan-university faculty and educational development initiatives in the area of ATL (e.g., workshops, trainings, resource materials) and support of other aspects of pan-university learning, pedagogy and teaching initiatives within the UTLC. This position requires expertise and experience in the areas of Universal Design for Learning, college-level teaching, and evaluating emerging technology to support pedagogical strategies.
Minimum Qualifications

  • Masters degree with college-level teaching
  • Ability to build and facilitate relationships with faculty and campus partners
  • Prior experience working with instructors on incorporating pedagogically effective practices
  • Ability to collaborate in a team and work independently
  • Demonstrated expertise in an established area of teaching best practice

Additional Required Certifications, Licensures, and Certificates
Preferred Qualifications

  • In progress terminal degree with college-level teaching
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate in a team and work independently
  • Ability to build and facilitate relationships with faculty and campus partners

  • Prior experience with course development
