The Assistant Director of Business Operations, Office of the Dean provides administrative and business support for all aspects of the McDonough School of Business administrative team. The position coordinates the Office of the Dean's business functions, including personnel administration, office coordination, and compensation reconciliation. This position is responsible for calendar management, making travel arrangements, and providing detailed itineraries for key senior MSB stakeholders that support the Office of the Dean and COO. This position has a high volume of interaction involving the exchange of confidential information between directors, deans, and the Office of the Provost.

Duties Include but are not limited to:
  • Coordinate, prioritize, and maintain a schedule and calendar of meetings, appointments, and special events for the Office of the Dean and COO while also arranging meetings and coordinating travel arrangements as needed.
  • Assist in planning the logistics of events such as seminars, speaker series, and conferences, professionally interacting with leadership and senior-level stakeholders.
  • Lead or assist in the planning, implementation, and introduction of projects as assigned.
  • Process and monitor faculty compensation, ensuring that all payments are processed and paid timely.
  • With the Senior Director, assist in the budgeting, hiring, and reconciliation of administrative student employees.


Work Interactions

The Assistant Director of Business Operations reports directly to Sara Flores, Chief of Staff, and works closely with the Dean's Office, COO, Director of Workforce Planning, Senior Director of Budgets, Senior Projects Manager, and other members of the MSB administrative office. This position regularly interacts with internal stakeholders, such as MSB leadership and MSB staff, faculty, and students, as well as external stakeholders, business professionals, and alumni. This role directly contributes to the University's mission by supporting its faculty and staff through efficient benefits administration.

Requirements and Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
  • 2-4 years of experience required (or equivalent combination of education and work experience)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Excellent written, verbal, and customer service skills
  • Ability to work responsibly with little guidance and prioritize tasks
  • A high level of professionalism and discretion is a must
  • Capable of maintaining confidentiality and use good judgment
  • An ability to juggle multiple assignments while meeting deadlines
  • Experience working in a corporate, nonprofit, or academic setting preferred
  • Knowledge of financial planning, budget analysis, and operational best practices preferred

Pay Range:

The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is:
$44,022.00 - $73,406.80

Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University's business needs and external factors.
