For more information about the company and product line visit: www.sigsauer.com Position Summary: The Incoming Inspection Quality Specialist will serve as the main technical interface between the Incoming Inspection department many internal departments including Engineering, Machining, Assembly, Supplier Quality, and Supply Chain. Responsibilities of this position include collection and statistical analysis of data, scheduling of government or contract inspection, and pre and post review of supplier and incoming inspection generated documentation. This position will be responsible for serving as the primary liaison, representing Incoming Inspection, with DCMA personnel and fulfil all DCMA/USG documentation requests and creating inspection related documentation for all USG contract product. They will lead associated corrective action and improvement opportunities in collaboration with affected stakeholders, such as manufacturing & design engineering, quality, supply chain, production, and marketing and sales and support ISO program via audit support and all associated document updates & training documentation. FLSA: Exempt Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Act as main liaison with the US (DOD, DCMA) and international governmental quality assurance representatives for submittal and approval of quality assurance data and reports for assigned government contracts.
- Serve as primary analytical interface between Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering and Quality on design for manufacture and assembly issues and establishing/documenting critical features. Interface with Supplier Quality and or suppliers to facilitate understanding of, and drive improvements to, critical part features and process control and capability methodologies.
- Ballooning of NG/MHS and contract drawings, the creation and upkeep of inspection sheets utilizing Inspection Xpert.
- Review, combine and resolve any differences between Supplier Quality inspection data and internal quality inspection data using analytical tools.
- Serve as the primary interface on customer issues emanating from company sales channels, e.g., commercial, law enforcement/defense, international, and customer support for assigned contracts. Analyze failures and lead the development of corrective and preventive actions to respond to customer complaints in a timely manner.
- Assist Quality VP, Quality Managers, and Quality Engineers in establishing, implementing, and maintaining the quality management system. Interface with Engineering and Operations to ensure New Product Introduction is in accordance with approved data and testing, including appropriate records.
- Synthesize data and resolve differences between and within Supplier Quality inspection data and internal quality inspection data (e.g., product samples, first article, and follow-on inspections) using analytical quality tools.
- As needed, develop and maintain work instructions on inspection methods and testing of assigned piece parts or assemblies and perform associated training.
- Maintain and keep updated department training records, validate training ability of Inspectors.
- Review, maintain product-specific quality records, and submit to customers as required by contract.
- Work with Supplier Quality Engineers, product line quality engineers, manufacturing engineers, and key suppliers to understand, analyze and improve measurement systems and process capability for assigned governmental contracts.
- For assigned contracts, as needed, lead problem-solving teams for driving to root cause of internal and supplier quality failures using contemporary problem-solving process and data-driven approach.
- Structure and organize both data collection and storage in a consistent manner.
- Seek and act upon ways to improve daily work processes to enhance quality and productivity.
- Drive improved fixturing, gages, and processes to reduce inspection time of the product.
- Initiate and encourage others to resolve impediments and act on improvement opportunities, both internally and with suppliers.
- Interface with IT for reporting of activities critical to the performance of Incoming Inspection.
- Assist in development and maintenance of broader company key performance indicators (KPI's)
- Participate in 5s workplace organization activities and maintain the area in good working order through sustainment activities.
- Regular on-site attendance/punctuality is a necessary function of this position.
- May be required to work in other functional areas and/or facilities depending on business needs.
- Miscellaneous duties as assigned.
Education/Experience & Skills:
- High School diploma or equivalent; or related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience; typically, 2 - 4 years of previous quality experience is required.
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and systems such as Oracle, Agile, and Inspection Xpert.
- Must be able to clearly, concisely, and accurately convey ideas and information to others, both verbally and in written form.
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, suppliers, management, and internal stakeholders.
- Possess a working knowledge of US Military standards and practices, technical data packages, ASTM specifications related to quality planning and first article and conformance inspections.
- Ability to interpret drawings.
- Possess a working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerances (GD&T).
- Possess a strong background in statistically based problem-solving and process improvement, for example, Six Sigma, as well as experience working with U.S. and international government quality assurance representatives.
- Ability to travel domestically approximately 10% of the time.
Working Conditions:
- Regularly perform repetitive tasks.
- Work is primarily standing (90 + % of the shift) except for lunch and break periods.
- Shifts are 8 hours, 10 hours, and 12 hours.
- The duties of this job normally require exposure to a typical manufacturing environment. Frequent standing, sitting, stooping/squatting, walking, and stair climbing can be expected along with frequent lifting and/or moving of tooling, parts containers, and materials up to 40 pounds.
- Must be able to reach with hands and arms, bend and kneel frequently at a minimum of 50% of the shift, as well as undergo repetitive wrist, hand, elbow, shoulder, and ankle motions.
- Must demonstrate proficient fine motor skills, ability to grip, reach, pull, turn, and use tools to torque fixtures in various machinery or in the assembly, machining, or testing of parts.
- Specific vision abilities required may include close vision, distance vision, peripheral and depth perception, and the ability to focus on fine print.
- Must wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) where required.
- Must comply with all work exposure EH&S training requirements and adhere to SIG SAUER Inc. security mandates.
