JOB SUMMARY
Works under moderate supervision in the Companion Animal Clinic in the Department of Radiation Oncology to provide high-quality imaging and focused ultrasound (FUS) therapy for preclinical research in privately owned veterinary cancer patients. FUS therapy can also be performed on rodents for research study. Works to advance the purpose of enhancing the quality of life for companion animals and furthering cancer research in humans.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
Required
- Education
- Associate's Degree in Ultrasound Technology -OR-
- Graduate of Accredited Sonography Program
Preferred
- Experience
- 2 years of experience in ultrasound imaging/therapy preferred.
JOB DUTIES
- Performs focused ultrasound treatments/imaging on enrolled veterinary patients.
- Provides ultrasound support for murine research.
- Evaluates the fitness of patients for recruitment in veterinary clinical trials.
- Instructs and communicates with patient's owners regarding the procedure to be performed.
- Ensures that images and records are properly completed with patient identification data and appropriate labeling.
- Performs high quality ultrasound examinations according to exam protocol in a timely manner. Assists the clinician as needed in performing additional imaging or biopsy procedures.
- Monitors intravenous injections of contrast material as appropriate.
- Assists with scheduling and coordinating exams as appropriate to ensure smooth workflow.
- Performs quality control on assigned equipment and reports issues timely.
- Actively engages in clinical research initiatives and collaborates closely with medical professionals to advance veterinary care.
- Checks equipment and accessories to ensure proper working order and notifies appropriate personnel for repairs.
- Maintains work area in a clean and orderly condition and ensures that it is properly supplied for procedures.
- Participates and contributes to manuscripts in the field of ultrasound research.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
