What is the Opportunity?

Group Risk Management is responsible for providing independent and objective oversight of the management of significant risks arising from RBC's businesses and operations, supported by comprehensive risk management frameworks, policies and practices, robust risk management systems, and experienced professionals. Key internal and external stakeholders rely on the effective execution of GRM accountabilities. The roles and responsibilities of the various internal stakeholders in the ownership, monitoring, escalation and oversight of risks are captured in RBC's Enterprise Risk Management Framework and supporting risk-specific frameworks.

What will you do?

As part of GRM this role will be responsible for supporting the Head of Risk GRM WM U.S, and their team with 2LOD Oversight activities. The role is responsible for the daily risk monitoring of the Credit and Bank Portfolio not captured by Counterparty Credit Risk (CCR), ensuring timely identification and escalation of associated risks. The manager will also contribute to enhancements in the reporting and monitoring processes surrounding Financial Advisor Onboarding, Lending to Financial Advisors, and New Business/Product Review and Approval.

  • Manage the accurate and timely execution of the daily/monthly/quarterly reporting processes, with a focus on iterative improvement on the presentation of reports, turnaround times, and quality of stakeholder engagement.

  • Execution of controls to ensure accuracy and timeliness of risk reporting data and continuous improvement and maintenance of the same.

  • Investigate reporting issues identified through the reporting processes and oversight - collaborate with stakeholders to gather information and develop solution to address issues.

  • Maintain appropriate documentation for all reporting processes including reporting procedures and best practices as needed.

  • Maintain a high standard of responsiveness to incoming requests from management, and proactively respond to ad-hoc inquiries and requests for analysis by senior management or other business partners.

  • Develop subject matter expertise in Wealth Management related Risk, including but not limited to the process for Financial Advisor Onboarding, Lending to Financial Advisors and the processes for New Business/Product/Project Approvals.

  • Centrally manage and oversee the 2LOD involvement in New Business/Product/Project approval processes. Coordinate subject matter expert (SME) input from relevant 2LOD partners.

  • Support the Head of Risk, GRM WM U.S., Senior Director GRM WM North America and the broader team with ad hoc queries relating to the WM U.S. and GAM U.S. Businesses.

What do you need to succeed?

  • 5+ years of experience in reporting

  • Bachelor's degree required

  • High level of attention to detail

  • Ability to manage well under pressure and tight deadlines

  • Ability to handle complexity and work in a matrix environment

  • Diplomatic and constructive in negotiation, excellent stakeholder management skills required

  • Highly self motivated / independent and self starter

  • Pragmatic, delivery oriented attitude

  • Good team player with strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Demonstrates analytical mindset

  • Advanced MS Office Suite skills (Word, Excel and Powerpoint)

  • Ideally with coding skills (Phyton and or VBA)

  • Understanding of the principles and issues of Banking

The expected salary range for this particular position is $65,000-$115,000 (Minnesota), depending on your experience, skills, and registration status, market conditions and business needs.
