The Opportunity

The Logistics Director is responsible for leading all aspects and optimizing Michelin North America's Logistics operations, ensuring the efficient, cost-effective, and timely delivery of goods and services.

This role involves planning, operational management, team leadership, and cross-departmental collaboration to achieve the company's logistics objectives. The Logistics Director plays a critical role in aligning logistics with overall business goals and maintaining high standards of customer satisfaction. This leader will play a pivotal role in leading and executing the strategic vision for the Michelin logistics network 2025 and beyond.

Furthermore, the position will be part of an accelerated development program with a goal of positioning the new leader to rapidly gain experience and grow quickly within the organization. We are expecting this new passionate leader to gain experience and rapidly promote into higher level Leadership roles within the company to include Vice President and beyond. Therefore, we need this person to be relocatable internationally.

What you will do
  • Planning & Execution:
  • Develop and implement comprehensive logistics strategies that align with the organization's goals.
  • Analyze logistics (Warehouse & Transportation) processes and find opportunities for optimization and cost savings.
  • Plan and implement logistics solutions for complex business challenges, including scalability and sustainability initiatives.
  • Operations Management & Continuous Improvement
  • Oversee daily logistics operations, including transportation, warehousing, inventory management in warehouses.
  • Steer end-to-end s logistics activities to ensure efficiency and minimize disruptions.
  • Establish and monitor critical metrics to evaluate the performance of logistics functions, making adjustments as needed.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimize workflows and reduce costs.
Vendor & Stakeholder Management:
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with carriers, suppliers, and third-party logistics providers.
  • Negotiate contracts and service-level agreements to ensure favorable terms and high-quality service, together with Purchasing
  • Collaborate with internal departments, including procurement, Supply Chain and sales, to streamline processes.
Compliance & Risk Management:
  • Develop risk mitigation strategies to address potential logistics disruptions.
  • Monitor and enforce health, safety, and environmental standards within logistics operations.
Management & Team Leadership:
  • Lead, mentor, and develop logistics teams, fostering a culture of excellence and teamwork.
  • Set clear performance goals, provide regular feedback, and implement professional development programs.
  • Promote teamwork and alignment between logistics and other business units.
  • Manages priorities and guides the teams to balance the workload according to the defined priorities
  • Develops and supports direct reports' career plans and learning opportunities
  • Applies company policies and procedures in managing direct reports' performance.
What you will bring
  • Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
  • Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in logistics, supply chain management, or related leadership roles.
  • Proven track record of managing large-scale logistics operations in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proven organizational change, transformation at the region and global levels
  • A proven developer of people, with ability to develop successor and identify talent for the organization
  • Ability to mobilize team outside of sphere of influence
  • Design pioneering approaches to progress, challenge the status quo, all while maintaining business continuity
  • In-depth knowledge of logistics processes, transportation systems, and warehousing principles.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and drive data-driven decisions.
  • Excellent negotiation, leadership, and communication skills.
  • Strategic growth mindset with a focus on innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Willingness to travel as needed to oversee operations and meet with partners.
  • Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple priorities effectively
  • Geographically mobile to include future overseas assignments
