FT Faculty English, (English Language Learners)

Essential Duties:

• Teach 5 English courses in fall and spring semesters focused on English Language Learners co-requisite Comp I classes, but will also include developmental Composition I, non-developmental Composition I, or non-developmental Composition II to complete the requisite course load.

• Teach college courses to a student population, that includes international students, traditional and non-traditional students, as well as dual enrolled, high school students in programs such as the Early College Experience program.

• Teach 16-week, 12-week, and 8-week sections, as needed.

• Teach mornings, afternoons, and evenings as needed.

• Teach in-person on the Benton County and Washington County campuses as needed; teach hybrid, online, and remote synchronous (live-streamed) sections, as needed.

• Ensure that all learning outcomes for the college are achieved

• Optimize student retention and success.

• Meet assigned classes; facilitate and evaluate student learning; submit grades by established deadlines; maintain student records in accordance with FERPA regulations.

• Fulfill institutional requirement to be on campus 32 hours weekly during fall and spring semesters, including being available to students for consultation for 10 on-campus office hours per week.

• Participate in the continued development of the English program and in program-level learning assessment.

• Participate in the summative and formative faculty evaluation process.

• Participate in professional development opportunities both on and off campus.

• Remain current in the academic discipline and professional field.

• Participate in departmental and college-wide committees as assigned.

• Attend college-wide meetings, division, and departmental meetings as scheduled.

• Perform other academic duties as assigned by the Dean.

Rate of pay: determined by faculty scale placement (education and years of experience)

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Knowledge of the organization and administration of various higher education academic and social programs.
• Knowledge of campus and community resources.
• Knowledge of state, federal, and campus rules, regulations, and requirements related to campus academic and social programs.
• Ability to coordinate the activities of campus academic and/or social programs.
• Ability to evaluate collected information and formulate into recommendations.
• Ability to compile information into report form.

The work environment typically consists of a professional office setting with a moderate noise level, including sounds from conversations, office equipment, and occasional movement of staff. Lighting is standard for office spaces, and the temperature is controlled to remain within a comfortable range. Employees may occasionally need to visit other areas, such as storage rooms, conference spaces, or outdoor locations, where environmental conditions may vary. Infrequently, exposure to louder noise levels or physical activities, such as moving lightweight materials, might be required.

Minimum Qualifications:

• TESOL or equivalent certification.

• Satisfy the academic qualifications to teach English courses in the department, including support courses for English Language Learners and English language students, Composition I and II, and Literature.

• A Master's degree with at least 18 hours of graduate credit in English.

• Minimum of THREE (3) years of teaching experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

• A Master's or PhD degree in English or a Master of Fine Arts degree in writing.

• Experience teaching English to English language learners.

• Experience teaching synchronous, asynchronous online, remote synchronous (live-streamed), or hybrid classes.

• At least FIVE (5) years of teaching experience.

• Experience teaching at a community college.
