The Senior Design Engineer's primary role uses highly developed engineering expertise and project management abilities to contribute to the design and development of new products and support of existing products within the department. You will be responsible for supporting the needs of New Product Development by analyzing upcoming programs, prioritizing key Advanced Engineering Initiatives and developing technology solutions for Milwaukee Tool. You'll also be DISRUPTIVE through these duties and responsibilities: * Technical resource and mechanical engineering leader on mid/high complexity Power Tool Advanced Development projects. * Leading ideation, prototyping, testing, concept selection, and test development activities * Directly assess upcoming NPD programs, generate and provide technical input to ADV priorities * Establish test regimens for components and assemblies within area of scope in the project with minimal guidance. Deliver complete data analysis to support design recommendations * Independently develop, write and analyze testing reports in internal laboratory. * Serve as a technical resource on areas of expertise and provide consultation / mentorship to others What TOOLS you'll bring with you: * Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Engineering Mechanics, Masters preferred * 3-10 years of design experience. * Experience driving Front End Innovation, Advanced Engineering or New Product Development Projects * Highly developed Electro-Mechanical aptitude is required including an understanding of battery powered electromechanical systems (Batteries, Motors, Electronics, Power Transmission) * Strong proficiency in 3D CAD - NX, ProE, Solidworks, or similar. * Strong experience with FEA - ANSYS, LS DYNA, or similar. * Deep mechanical aptitude is required including a broad knowledge of engineering materials, mechanical properties and an understanding of the manufacturing processes associated with these materials. * Ability to travel up to 10% (travel includes Domestic and International). * High interest in tools of the construction trades. * To be successful in this role you will need to be a self-starter who has a strong problem-solving skill set and understands design, testing, and manufacturing processes utilized in the production of power tools. * Thrive in a collaborative work environment.
