The successful candidate will work as part of an interdisciplinary research team in the laboratory of Dr. Leonid Kruglyak in the UCLA Department of Human Genetics. The Kruglyak Lab conducts experiments in model organisms, as well as computational analyses, aimed at understanding how changes at the level of DNA are shaped by molecular and evolutionary forces, and how these changes lead to all the observable differences among individuals within a species. Experience with cutting-edge experimental genetics and genomic techniques in nematodes, and with computational analysis of data from these approaches, is required. The ideal candidate will have an interest in pursuing projects in complex trait genetics, will be motivated to develop and implement a variety of cutting-edge genomic methodologies, and will be excited to work with and develop teams within the lab. Projects may include, but are not limited to, studies of toxin-antidote elements, development of large-scale genetic mapping approaches, and studies of genetic differences in general and gene-specific RNAi sensitivity.
