- Employees newly hired into this position are placed within the first three (3) steps of the salary range. The application is used to determine the initial salary placement for selected candidates. All employment and education history will be considered.

- Lane Community College is considered a qualifying public employer for the purposes of the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program. Required QUALIFICATIONS
Required Education: |
Bachelor's degree with coursework in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education or related area from an accredited institution. |
Required Experience: |
- Three (3) years of experience teaching and caring for pre-school and toddler-aged children in a state certified center with two (2) of those years as a head teacher or director.
- Two (2) years of administrative experience that includes budget management, supervision, and coaching staff.
- Note: Teaching and administrative experience may be concurrent.

Licensure or Certification Requirements |
- A current Oregon Approved Food Handlers Card by time of hire.
- Current Infant/Toddler First Aid/CPR card is required by time of hire.

- The selected candidate must adhere to the guidelines of the Oregon Office of Child Care Confidentiality handbook and pass a criminal background check per OAR 471-007-0220.
- Must meet the state level requirements, which includes review of police/criminal records/history and no felony convictions.

Position Purpose: |
The Manager manages the operations of the Lane Child and Family Center, a
NAEYC accredited child development laboratory school. The Manager is responsible for assisting in hiring, supervising staff, overseeing curriculum development and assuring that young children are provided a safe and nurturing learning environment in which early childhood education students perform their practicum experience. |
Essential Functions: |
Regulatory Compliance & Safety
- Ensure compliance with Office of Child Care rules and regulations for child care centers.
- Maintain adherence to licensing standards, National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), and Quality Improvement Rating System (QRIS).
- Ensure adherence to NAEYC accreditation standards and SPARK.
- Ensure the maintenance of the center in a safe and sanitary manner.
- Assure food services meet USDA requirements.
Program & Curriculum Oversight
- Coordinate the planning and implementation of an emergent "Reggio Inspired" curriculum and special needs support.
- Oversee the implementation, updates, and usage of childcare center management software.
- Facilitate coordination and feedback from classroom teachers to lab students.
- Observe, train, and coach classroom and substitute teachers, ensuring alignment with Early Childhood Education principles.
Staff Management & Professional Development
- Operate all administrative components, including staff schedules and team facilitation.
- Recruit and hire substitute teachers.
- Conduct staff meetings and schedule professional development opportunities to maintain required training hours.
- Assist staff with individual training plans and career goals.
- Work with special needs, behavior support, parent-teacher communication, and training suggestions.
Financial & Administrative Responsibilities
- Assist the Director in developing and monitoring the center budget, office record keeping, and schedules.
- Responsible for all record keeping required by USDA, Preschool Promise, and the Department of Early Learning and Care.
- Submit monthly, quateraly, and annual performance reports.
- Contribute to and provide input for grant proposals.
Family & Community Engagement
- Meet with parents regarding special needs, behavior support, and parent-teacher communication.
- Plan for and purchase supplies and materials.
- Professionally represent the center at community activities and meetings.
- Build relationships with college staff and community child care centers.
- Conduct parent orientations, facility tours, and special events.
Leadership & Workplace Culture
- Oversee and maintain a positive and productive working and learning environment.
- Uses reflective listening and constructive feedback to guide staff, students, and parents daily.
- Problem-solve and manage sensitive information with awareness of FERPA standards, maintaining confidentiality.
- Other duties as assigned.

Supervision Statement: |
Reports to and works under the general supervision of the Child and Family Education Director or other supervisor. Work is performed independently according to college and department policies, State and federal rules or regulations. A manager may assign work, provide work priorities and be available to answer questions or troubleshoot problems on a daily basis. Work is reviewed to assure conformance with policies and by results obtained.
This position may have responsibility to assign tasks, provide priorities, train and monitor the work of office support specialists, student assistants and volunteers. |
Physical Demands/Working Environment: |
Physical strength and agility are required to lift children and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds. Work requires a high level of physical activity to bend, stoop, pursue and carry children. Working conditions include potential exposure to body fluids. Work safely. |
Knowledge Skills and Abilities: |

Lane Child and Family Center
The Lane Child and Family Center is a state licensed preschool/child care program serving families on
LCC main campus. The program is one of three centers in Lane County accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children and rated 5 stars by Oregon's Quality Rating and Improvement System. The Center is a teacher preparation school and parent cooperative.
We provide opportunities for children to explore, discover and experiment with a wide variety of materials in a safe and emotionally responsive environment. Teachers respect each child's unique needs and allow development at his or her own pace. We encourage positive parent-child interaction, parent involvement and consistent care between school and home.
The center offers full and part time childcare and the following:
