Job Title: Senior Mechanical Engineer - Project Lead

Position Summary:

We are seeking a dynamic Senior Engineering Group Leader to lead and mentor a team of mechanical engineers in the design, development, and launch of innovative medical device products. This role is integral to the success of our R&D Hardware Engineering team, requiring a strong technical background in product development from concept through manufacturing, as well as leadership experience in driving system-level integration and performance.

Key Responsibilities:



  • Lead and manage a team of engineers responsible for mechanical design and system integration for complex medical devices.
  • Provide technical direction, coaching, and mentorship to ensure high-quality deliverables aligned with project goals.
  • Support full lifecycle product development-from concept through manufacturing transfer and product launch.
  • Apply a systems mindset to troubleshoot and resolve engineering and integration issues across hardware and cross-functional teams.
  • Review and track project schedules, deliverables, and resources to ensure timely execution.
  • Ensure alignment of engineering activities with corporate objectives, regulatory requirements, and quality standards.
  • Coordinate closely with Project Management, Quality, and other R&D departments.
  • Monitor team performance, conduct evaluations, and facilitate professional development and training.
  • Allocate resources and develop contingency plans as needed to meet milestones.
  • Drive continuous improvement in engineering processes and documentation practices.
  • Contribute to or lead technical reviews, risk assessments, and root cause investigations.


Secondary Functions:



  • Lead cross-functional teams in resolving technical challenges
  • Contribute to design control documentation and regulatory submissions
  • Help define engineering strategy and roadmap for the group
  • Support functional budgeting and resource planning
  • Provide hands-on engineering support as needed



Qualifications:

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline

8+ years of engineering experience in medical device product development

Proven track record of launching medical devices from concept to commercialization

Experience in system-level design and integration of complex electromechanical systems

Strong leadership, communication, and collaboration skills

Proficiency in root cause analysis, risk management, and statistical methods

Working knowledge of design control, ISO 13485, and FDA regulations

Experience in a functional management or team lead role preferred
