The UCSD Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Sciences is composed of 78 Clinical and Research Faculty, Clinical Fellows, Residents, Project Scientists, and Postdoctoral Scholars. The department is composed of 7 divisions: Obstetrics and Gynecology, Maternal-Fetal Medicine, Gynecologic Oncology, Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility, Hospitalist, Complex Family Planning and Urogynecologic and Reconstructive Surgery. The department is currently ranked 5th in the nation in NIH funding among OB/GYN departments. The Inpatient Certified Nurse Midwife will work with full-time faculty members in the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Reproductive Sciences (specifically Obstetrics & Gynecology, Hospitalist, and Maternal Fetal Medicine Divisions) seeing patients primarily at the Jacobs Medical Center Labor & Delivery and Postpartum units. Some flexible assignments may include the Hillcrest Inpatient Obstetrics Team. This is a variable position, with 10 hour weekdays, weekends, and some night shifts. Duties include performing history and physical examinations of postpartum patients, participating in postpartum rounds, collaborating with our residents and faculty, coordinating care with our nursing, social work, lactation, pharmacy, and pediatrics teams, facilitating postpartum discharges. This will include management of patients that are status post vaginal and Cesarean deliveries. This may consist of common postpartum problems such as preeclampsia, anemia, intrauterine infection, ileus, engorgement, breastfeeding difficulties, and perineal pain. The APP will also provide instruction on family planning options and be able to perform or supervise the placement of long acting reversible contraception. Skills at performing limited bladder scanning are desired. Secondary components of this job include working in labor and delivery triage, supporting the antepartum team, and assisting in the OR, which are secondary parts of this job. May be required to perform antepartum care and deliveries. There may be some participation in clinical research studies. The selected candidate should be comfortable working with a team of physicians but still be able to work independently. Our team includes trainees, and the midwife may participate in clinical education of CNM students, medical students, residents, and other health care trainees. This person should be a positive role model to all team members with respect to professionalism, teamwork, and patient-centered care. Performs duties in a manner that is culturally sensitive and appropriate with respect for individual autonomy, beliefs, and customs. Pay Transparency Act Annual Full Pay Range: $167,687 - $234,649 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%) Hourly Equivalent: $80.31 - $112.38 Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable). |
