Maintenance Mechanic

JOB GOAL:

• To perform a variety of highly skilled work in the maintenance, alteration and repair of mechanical systems.
• To perform a variety of semi-skilled and skilled work in the maintenance alterations and repair of facilities and buildings.
• To ensure a safe, clean, and comfortable work environment; to carry out administrative tasks required to maintain and operate the plant to the required standards.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

• Determines priorities for requisitioning materials and supplies.
• Keeps tools and equipment in good condition.
• Reads and interprets blueprints, maps, schematic wiring diagrams and specifications.
• Maintains required records and makes reports
• Prepares reports on work completed and materials used.
• Participates in inspections and performs repairs and maintenance to facilities.
• Performs basic painting and varnishing duties.
• Performs basic plumbing repairs.
• Under the guidance of the Facilities Manager, maintains, repairs or replaces, toilets, urinals, faucets, drinking fountains and assists in the inspecting, maintaining, and repairing complete plumbing systems.
• Performs a variety of general carpentry duties. Under the guidance of the Facilities Manager, constructs, fabricates, installs, repairs or replaces doors, walls, signs desks, counters, shelves, shelf units, computer tables, chairs, etc.
• Performs basic preventive maintenance servicing on air-conditioning and heating systems. Change filters. Greases and oils bearings, motors, and compressors per specification and standing procedures.
• Shovels, plows, salts, and/or sweeps sidewalks, steps, driveways and parking areas as necessary.
• Obeys all fire/safety and environmental laws and regulations relating to the plant operation.
• At the direction of the Facility Manager, assists staff in the moving of equipment and furniture throughout the facility.
• Performs related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• High school diploma or equivalent training.
• Knowledge of plant operation and maintenance; cleaning methods and procedures; repairs; security; heating and ventilation.
• Demonstrated knowledge of fire/safety laws and proper handling of hazardous materials.
• Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English
• Required a valid Driver's License.
• Physical condition to withstand rights of the job requirement.
