Department Overview

The Environmental Management (EM) Transmission group includes a staff of approximately 70 Environmental professionals who provide support to the Gas and Electric Transmission lines of business. Our work requires close integration between our team of environmental professionals, as well as with law, environmental standards & programs, and the lines of business we support. This position will be supervising biologists supporting Gas and Electric Transmission projects.

Position Summary

Based in Oakland, the Environmental Management Transmission Projects Supervisor (Supervisor) provides leadership to a team of Biologists supporting Gas and Electric Transmission Projects throughout PG&E's service territory. The biologist team provides environmental permitting, compliance and overall regulatory support and coordination for company projects sponsored by Gas and Electric Transmission. In addition, the Supervisor plans and manages professional development, provides guidance and mentoring, and works to improve the performance of the team. The Supervisor connects staff to experts and information and ensures that work is completed in a timely and professional manner. The Supervisor is responsible for ensuring that staff is appropriately meeting the needs of the Environmental Management group, Gas and Electric Transmission, and the Company.

PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of thejob posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will bebased on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience,market value, geographic location, and internal equity.

This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work location based on business need.

A reasonable salary range is:

Bay Area Minimum: $128,000

Bay Area Maximum: $218,000

&/OR

California Minimum: $122,000

California Maximum: $207,000

Job Responsibilities

  • Provides leadership for assigned staff. Plans and manages the staff's professional development.
  • Manage staff workload and assignments.
  • Provide input into strategy planning for projects.
  • Facilitate clear roles and responsibilities to meet compliance requirements
  • Ensures work is completed in a timely and professional manner, provides guidance and mentoring to the staff to help them be successful in completing their work.
  • Successfully implements organizational changes and new processes and procedures.
  • Works with management team to develop workload forecast and resource plans.
  • Continuously drive safety performance using training, tools, initiatives and other resources provided to improve safety. Use available communication tools and resources to inform and engage employees about the importance of safety at PG&E and employee accountability regarding safety. Embrace and model the PG&E Safety Pledge and ensure compliance with all company work procedures and safe work practices. Identify and mitigate unsafe work conditions.
  • Evaluates trends and identifies major risks and potential problems. Leads Root Cause Analyses for major compliance incidents and identifies corrective actions to prevent reoccurrences. Establishes processes to meet LOB and PG&E business objectives, goals and metrics.
  • Builds and maintains trusted relationships with internal business partners through regular communication, participation in LOB process improvements and provides and receives regular feedback to ensure the process meet those business objectives, goals and metrics.

Qualifications

Minimum

  • Bachelors Degree in Environmental Science or job-related discipline or equivalent experience
  • Possess a valid class C California Driver's License
  • 6 years of relevant work experience in the environmental field such as environmental program management or resource management
