Compensation

The anticipated base pay compensation range for this position is$60,400.00 to$100,700.00.

Position Details

The Retoucher is responsible for editing, manipulating and finalizing digital product images. These images include those created by the photo studios and provided from suppliers. This role is also tasked with creating unique product images through advanced digital image manipulation including pixel and vector based techniques.

This is a hybrid role that is based onsite in Chicago (Merchandise Mart) 3 days a week; it can also be based in Minooka 1 day a week.

You Will

  • Post-production image editing work which includes retouching and compositing images created in the Photo Studio as well supplier provided images using advanced Adobe Photoshop techniques
  • Create images (photographs, illustrations and icons) through pixel or vector-based methods
  • Utilize color correction, manipulation and image compositing techniques to alter existing images to match the Grainger Style Guide standards while maximizing throughput
  • Utilize the Adobe Creative Suite and Photo Studio software (SpinMe/PhotoControls) to ensure all product images meet or exceed Publishing standards
  • Enhance details on product images to ensure they display well on print and digital devices
  • Identify where existing image assets can be repurposed to fix errors and/or create images when they do not exist, utilizing Adobe Photoshop
  • Recommend when image creation is better achieved though post-production retouching work instead of traditional photography
  • Utilize and understand all aspects of the current and future rich content systems to ensure images are properly named and tagged for easy identification and reuse
  • Must have general knowledge of digital file management and will be moving files between various systems
  • Must be able to self-manage and prioritize work across multiple projects

You Have

  • 5+ years retouching in a production environment; Bachelor's degree in Graphic arts or related field preferred
  • Advanced Adobe Creative Cloud experience (Photoshop, Illustrator)
  • Strong and polished retouching skills - keen eye and aesthetic
  • Attention to detail, highly organized and able to manage multiple projects concurrently with minimal direction
  • Ability to quickly adapt to new software tools and changes in project direction
  • Exhibit excellent team/collaboration skills and the ability to work in a fast paced production environment
  • Knowledge of SpinMe Studio, PhotoControls, 360 photography and CGI processes a plus
