Your Opportunity

The Business Management and Procurement team is looking for motivated professionals to facilitate the distribution of our great products to customers and consumers. The Associate Raw Material Buyer purchases and schedules raw materials to be delivered to all plants in quantities and quality levels which meet the needs of the receiving facilities. This position is responsible for resolving and documenting all raw material claims.

Core Responsibilities

  • Purchases all raw materials from approved suppliers needed to produce the company's products in quantity and quality levels necessary to satisfy market demands.

  • Reviews current raw material vendor base and investigates alternative suppliers to ensure the least possible cost to all Smithfield plant facilities.

  • Works with external suppliers to ensure raw materials are delivered on time and in sufficient quantities to maximize producing plant production schedules.

  • Assists Senior Buyers with PO entry, complaint entry, truck tracking, and report generation.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree from a regionally accredited four-year college or university, required.

  • Strong knowledge Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint and Excel).

  • Prior SAP experience, preferred.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Must have good planning, organizational and execution skills.

  • Ability to meet deadlines and established goals and objectives in a fast-paced environment.

  • Must have strong negotiation skills.

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Must be able to travel up to 25% of the time.

  • Ability to work well with others in fast paced, dynamic environment.

  • Ability to be respectful, approachable and team oriented while building strong working relationships and a positive work environment.
