General Responsibilities
*Under direction of MGB ACMO, support system-wide efforts to deliver the highest quality care possible and optimize patient safety for all patients served by MGB *Leverage knowledge of effectiveness, safety, patient experience and equity to inform all efforts *Oversee enterprise clinical pharmacy and formulary management *Oversee the Central Credentialing Office to optimize the central credentialing and privileging service *Support development of enterprise process and standards for medical professional practice evaluation and performance management for physicians and Advance Practice Providers *Support development and approval of standards for optimal care delivery across the system through delineation of enterprise medical policy and clinical guidelines, in concert with the MGB Medical Policy Committee and CMO Council *Provide medical guidance for enterprise initiatives and operational needs in support of optimal care, patient and clinician experience, including virtual care delivery, optimization of clinical workflows, digital tools, and EMR *In collaboration with the enterprise safety team, provide medical expertise and physician leadership to support evaluation and mitigation of enterprise safety events, including relevant digital safety events *Support system level work for the MGB Community Division chief medical officers across 6 community hospitals and the MGB Medical Group *Dedicates a minimum of 0.60 FTE to this role Clinical Pharmacy and Formulary Management *Oversee the MGB Center for Drug Policy *Under guidance of MGB ACMO, provide medical oversight for enterprise pharmacy formulary and effective use of medications across the system oSupport and promote effective and efficient use of medications that optimizes patient care outcomes across the entire care spectrum within Mass General Brigham, including the hospital and ambulatory settings oSupervise the Mass General Brigham Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee and its subcommittees, providing the operational, technical and clinical support to oversee $900+ million in drug spend and 20-30 new drugs per year. oWork with Mass General Brigham Chief Pharmacy Officer, ambulatory care leadership, and the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee to develop, implement, evaluate and support disease state based clinical practice tools that ensure the safe, rational, efficient and ethical use of medications oSupport an organized process for consistent, system-wide measurement and reporting regarding medication utilization oProvide leadership and guidance in the process for developing and managing drug policy development across all system entities. Provider Credentialing *Oversee the Central Credentialing Office to ensure accurate, timely, and efficient processes for provider credentialing and privileging with a focus on optimizing quality, service and continuous improvement to support enterprise strategy and priorities *Support the Executive Director of central credentialing with ensuring the refinement, full integration and consistent application of Medical Staff standards, policies and processes across the system *Leverage the central credentialing office to support additional opportunities for enterprise operations efficiency, such as OPPE and cross-credentialing Physician and Medical Staff Leadership *Under guidance of the MGB ACMO and AMC CMO, and in partnership with entity and departmental leaders, support the design and implementation of system-wide approach to medical professional practice evaluation and performance management, including but not limited to Ongoing Professional Practice Evaluation (OPPE), focused review of performance for newly requested privileges (FPPE), and re-credentialing and re-privileging process *Under direction of ACMO and in collaboration with AMC CMO, partner with enterprise Chief APP Officers to develop the strategy, create the process, and measure the success of integration of APPs into the practice of medicine within MGB, including system alignment of APP scope of practice and oversight of APP performance and competency *Lead development of framework for standardizing enterprise medical policies, including process for aligning existing site-based policies and ensuring consistent approach to new policy development Qualifications:
