Field Technician I (Network, Telecom, Server, Desktop)



  • Provide a highly available voice and data network by effectively performing network installations, maintenance, and support under the direction of a Network Analyst or the VP of Telecom & Computer Network Systems.
  • Constantly monitor voice and data network availability through network management tools and address problems as they arise.
  • Maintain high levels of customer satisfaction through the proper provisioning of various technology infrastructure services and scheduling.
  • Responsibilities & Duties
  • Function as a primary point of contact for telecommunications system related problems and support.
  • Provide a highly available network by closely monitoring the Network Monitoring System alert messages and quickly resolving network related problems.
  • Work with Avaya and the network support group to quickly Isolate network problems and replace defective components.
  • Continue to develop technical skills by working with telecommunications vendors in the configuration and troubleshooting of network components and 3rd level network support in the configuration and troubleshooting of network components.
  • Assist in conducting regular scheduled vendor meetings for the review of problems and project status. These meeting should include agenda items and meeting minutes.
  • Integrate proactive notification of critical network events using NMS, Kiwi alerts, history and performance reporting.
  • Maintains and verifies monthly FCICIA procedure for the network group which includes frame relay availability reports, ISDN testing, Monthly Out of Band testing and Overall Network Availability.
  • Responsible for planning and implementation of telecommunications adds moves and changes.


Requirements:



  • An understanding of networking and telecommunications concepts to include a thorough understanding of circuit offerings, i.e. Sonet, ATM, Frame Relay, DDS, T1/T3 multiplexing, TCP/IP and routing concepts.
  • The ability to work with senior network analysts to assist in the resolution of complex technical problems and in the recommendation of solutions.
  • Principles and practices of wide area networks (WAN) architecture and telephony vendor support.
  • 1 to 3 years of network experience (banking industry preferred).
  • Familiar with network management concepts and automation.
  • Hands-on experience with the configuration of Voice and Data equipment, including routers, switches, media servers, telephone and server/desktop connectivity.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and VISIO.
  • Able to travel, with the possibility of extended days.
  • Understands and remain up to date with compliance issues, and constantly comply with laws and regulations which pertain to duties.
  • Function as a backup to the Network Analyst
  • Function as a backup to the Telecom Analyst
  • Function as a backup to the Desktop Support Analyst
  • Function as a backup to the Server Analyst
