DESCRIPTION
Established in 2011, the UC San Diego Centers for Integrative Health provides whole-person health care guided by the mind- body-spirit connection. Our Centers foster innovative research, education and clinical programs that have inspired an inside-out transformation of health care. The Centers for Integrative Health articulate with every department and division across UC San Diego, with a physical presence at more than a dozen locations across San Diego and an international reach. The Center for Integrative Medicine provides integrative physician consults, osteopathic manual medicine, acupuncture/Chinese medicine, massage, integrative nutrition, integrative shared medical visits, and mindful health coaching at more than 15,000 patient visits per year across more than a dozen clinical locations. The Center for Mindfulness was among the first university-based centers around the world devoted solely to the teaching and study of mindfulness. The Center has more than 20 instructors teaching courses to more than 500 participants per year. It has also participated in numerous research projects and publications. The Krupp Center for Integrative Research is one of the most robust integrative health research programs in the U.S. thanks to a generous gift from Richard N. Krupp (1930-2015). It supports and administers various independent research projects as well as practice-based research in the areas of integrative nutrition, natural medicine, lifestyle medicine, and integrative public health. The Center for Integrative Nutrition houses state-of-the-art professional training, clinical care, and rigorous research in integrative nutrition and natural medicine. Services include personal healing through the use of food-as-medicine, targeted natural therapeutics, and the creation and management of dietary interventions for many high-profile research projects. The Center for Integrative Education oversees educational programs for medical students, residents and the community, continuing education for health professionals, and numerous outreach activities.
The Health and Wellness Coaching Manager will coordinate, implement, supervise and evaluate health and wellness coaching services and programs within the Centers for Integrative Health. With a focus on empowering patients to develop and sustain lifestyle habits to prevent illness, manage chronic diseases and promote health and well-being, this role will utilize advanced and specialized expertise and demonstrated leadership experience in the following responsibilities: manage the scheduling and delivery of health and wellness coaching interventions for clinical and research needs at the individual, community, organizational and policy level; create and/or revise curriculum for supporting health and wellness education programs, to include developing relevant patient resources; implement and evaluate health coaching services, to include analyzing data and providing direct coach supervision of health and wellness coaches; maintain appropriate and timely documentation; participate in regular team meeting and peer activities, to include regular consultation with the CIH Managing Director, Medical Director and Director of Integrative Health Coaching to develop strategies for optimizing patient care and service delivery.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Seven (7) years of related experience, education/training, OR a Bachelor's degree in a health science-related field (e.g., public health, nursing, health education, dietetics, psychology, exercise science, etc.) plus three (3) years of clinical experience. National board-certified health and wellness coach (NBC-HWC) or ability to obtain certification within six months of hire. Must have already successfully completed an NBHWC-approved health and wellness coach training program. Advanced knowledge of the health promotion and education field and / or related education programs and services. Established professional with relevant clinical experience in the area of health education, health promotion and/or health coaching. Advanced knowledge associated with the design and delivery of health promotion and education programs. Advanced comprehensive knowledge and experience independently designing and delivering of comprehensive health coaching interventions and health coach education programs. Skills associated with both the development and delivery of diverse health education programs and services. Expert knowledge of delivery mediums, including experience designing and delivering patient educational programs. Expert skills delivering complex integrative health programs. Requires effective interpersonal skills to deal with diverse client groups. Effective interpersonal skills working with diverse patient groups and as part of an interdisciplinary team. Ability to interact with colleagues effectively at all levels of the organization. Effective organizational skills. Effective organizational skills, including proven ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously. Interpersonal and diplomacy skills to identify and respond to organizational needs. Expert skills associated with identifying organizational needs, specifically in the areas of health and wellness education program development and health coaching. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Excellent verbal and non-verbal communication skills with strong knowledge and developed practical skill set in evidence-based coaching practices. Ability to analyze, interpret and respond to client needs through the development, implementation and delivery of health-related programs. Strong knowledge of lifestyle medicine and integrative health, with the ability to effectively address core competencies within coaching sessions and supporting educational programs and resources. Demonstrated experience providing effective one-on-one and group-based health and wellness coaching sessions to support lifestyle behavior change.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Advanced degree in a health science-related field (e.g., public health, nursing, health education, dietetics, psychology, exercise science, etc.)strongly preferred. Five (5) or more years of clinical experience strongly preferred. A certification, certificate, and/or academic degree concentration in integrative wellness, integrative health, or lifestyle medicine is strongly preferred. Demonstrated leadership experience overseeing personnel and programs; research experience preferred. Experience leading and evaluating programs and services preferred, including analyzing and reporting data.

Pay Transparency Act Annual Full Pay Range: $77,000 - $139,200 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%) Hourly Equivalent: $36.88 - $66.67 Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
