Summary of Position Functions
The General Foreman is responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating all aspects of the field operations to effectively execute all assigned construction projects.
Essential Position Functions
- Manages job site safety, pre-task plan compliance, safety equipment on the job sites, and safety equipment expenses on the job site.
- Oversees high-risk activities requiring safety upper management involvement.
- Manages the time keeping system quantity tracking on all assigned projects.
- Manages job site productivity goals.
- Manages crew productivity and daily quantity tracking.
- Ensures individuals meet productivity goals.
- Manages project layout, trade coordination, and project quality control.
- Manages the company quality control plan.
- Manages site storage, staging, and lay down.
- Ensures material management on site is done efficiently.
- Oversees tools and rental expenses on projects.
- Ensures the bulk buy process is being completed.
- Manages the evaluation of worker skills.
- Provides a 6-week look ahead.
- Manages the safety of the crew.
- Manages crew size.
- Enters time records into the time keeping system daily.
- Manages weekly time approval.
- Provides daily reports on job sites being completed, documentation (RFIs, drawings updates, submittals), and job site photo documentation.
- Processes RFI requests being submitted from the field.
- Manages documentation on all risk management issues.
Non-Essential Position Functions
- Other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Directly supervises employees in the electrical department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Veregy's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Education and Qualifications
To perform this position successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or three to five years' related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Commercial ground up construction experience required.
- Block Chasing experience required.
- OSHA 30 training required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge and expertise in all aspects of trade related materials, components, equipment, systems methods of installation, safety procedures, safe work practices, sizing and other calculations, and use of hand and power tools.
- Knowledge of Veregy's services and processes is required which can be obtained through intellect, technical inclination, and dedication to gain such knowledge.
- Ability to read and accurately interpret project related drawings and documentation including plans, specifications, drawings, schematics, diagrams, sketches and blueprints to ensure proper installation means and methods.
- Ability to use the NEC (National Electrical Code) book as reference material in performing or directing the performance of work.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to interpret an extensive variety of instructions and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and tactfully negotiate priorities with end users.
- Ability to work in fast paced environment, adapts easily to changes to planned tasks or schedules, works well under pressure.
- Ability to effectively complete time sensitive job duties and responsibilities.
- Ability to work under deadline pressure and extra hours if needed.
