The Regulatory Services group at Diablo Canyon is responsible for interfacing with station staff and the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, to ensure DCPP to ensure regulatory compliance, as well as meeting licensing and design basis commitments.

Position Summary

DCPP Regulatory Services is looking for a talented summer intern to lead the development and implementation of several modernization projects related to emergency response and preparedness. Projects may include developing or working on regulatory management databases, development and integration of data visualization tools, and .

To obtain and maintain employment, you must be able to pass a drug and alcohol screen, a security background check for unescorted access to a nuclear plant, psychological screen, and be subject to random drug and alcohol screening in fulfillment of federal requirements.

PG&E is providing the hourly rate range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual hourly rate paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity.

The hourly rate for this position ranges from $22.77 to $36.42.

Responsibilities

  • Development / improvement of Regulatory Services data tracking and status tools
  • Integration of data management processes
  • Development of automated templates for correspondence
  • Support coordination between Regulatory Services and other station groups
  • Support emergent regulatory initiatives as assigned

The successful intern will have the opportunity to lead and support activities as described above working with a team of experienced Regulatory Services team members. Additionally, the intern will gain knowledge of the larger Nuclear Generation organization through the work they will be performing.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Qualified candidates are pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field at an accredited University
  • Students must be continuing their education towards their degree during and/or after the internship
  • Must have a valid driver's license or obtain one at least 30 days prior to start date.

Desired:

  • 3.0 GPA or greater in both cumulative GPA and major GPA
  • Interest in the field of nuclear power and/or regulatory compliance
  • Coding experience in Python, C#, SQL, and/or Visual Basic for Applications (VBA)
  • Experience in development of Power BI and Excel tools
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written
  • Takes initiative and can work independently within guidelines provided
