We are seeking a skilled CMM Operator to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience programming and operating Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs) and be proficient with PC-DMIS software, CAD, SOLIDWORKS, and other design tools. This role is essential in ensuring precision and quality control in our manufacturing processes, conducting inspections, and maintaining compliance with industry standards.

Candidates must be eligible to obtain the relevant security clearance required for the role, due to the nature of the programmes we deliver for our customers.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, write, and debug CMM programs using PC-DMIS software to perform accurate inspections.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, CAD models, and GD&T to verify part specifications.
  • Utilize SOLIDWORKS and other CAD software to analyze 3D models and assist in programming.
  • Conduct first article, in-process, and final inspections to ensure quality standards are met.
  • Analyze CMM inspection data, generate reports, and provide feedback to engineering and production teams.
  • Maintain and calibrate CMM equipment to ensure accurate measurements.
  • Work closely with quality engineers, design and manufacturing engineers and machinists to troubleshoot and resolve manufacturing issues.
  • Ensure compliance with ISO 9001, or other industry standards.
  • Continuously improve inspection processes for efficiency and accuracy.
  • Maintain complete and accurate inspection records of products and programs
  • Occasional travel may be needed to work with suppliers to uphold quality standards
  • Able to work overtime or outside of normal shift hours to support organizational goals

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in CMM programming and inspection preferred.
  • Active Secret or higher security clearance
  • Strong knowledge of PC-DMIS, SOLIDWORKS, and CAD software.
  • Familiarity with Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) and blueprint reading.
  • Experience in CNC machining, precision measurement, and quality control.
  • Ability to analyze data, troubleshoot issues, determine root cause and recommend corrective actions.
  • Strong focus on accuracy and quality in inspection processes.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with management, engineers, machinists, and quality teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with other CMM programming software (e.g., Calypso, Mitutoyo MCOSMOS).
  • Background in defense, aerospace, automotive, medical device, or precision manufacturing industries.
  • Certification in CMM programming or metrology-related fields.
