We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Legal Intern to support our Legal Department. This internship offers hands-on experience in federal and commercial contracting, contract management, and legal compliance. You will assist with contract drafting and review, legal research, compliance tasks, and administrative support, gaining valuable exposure to the legal frameworks that govern contracts.

Intern Responsibilities:
  • Assist in drafting, reviewing, and editing vendor contracts, non-disclosure agreements, teaming agreements, subcontract agreements and other contracts.
  • Support the legal team in preparing contracts for signature, and in organizing, updating and maintaining contract records in the contract management system.
  • Conduct legal and regulatory research related to government procurement, employment law and other legal issues that may arise.
  • Help track key contract dates, deliverables, and compliance requirements.
  • Participate in internal meetings and support cross-functional coordination between legal, operations, and business development teams.
  • Assist with audit preparation and compliance reviews.
  • Update contract templates as needed.
  • Perform administrative tasks such as document formatting, filing, and database updates.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree, or currently pursuing a Juris Doctor (JD) or Paralegal Certificate, with a focus in Law, Political Science, Public Administration, Business, Marketing, English, Journalism, or related field.
  • Strong interest in contract law and regulatory compliance.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical/critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines efficiently.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint); familiarity with DocuSign, Adobe and contract management systems a plus.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Prior internship or coursework related to contracts, business law, or government procurement.
  • Familiarity with Lexion contract management system.
  • Familiarity with federal government contracting.

Internship Program Overview:
Internships are full-time (40 hours) during the standard workweek and pay an hourly rate of $20. The internship class begins on Thursday, June 5, and runs through Friday, November 21. Core hours during the internship are 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Eastern time. This internship requires five in-office days (Monday - Friday) at our office in Alexandria, Virginia.

This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship now or in the future. Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
