College of Liberal Arts, Office of Institutional Advancement
Temporary Web Communications Assistant

The College of Liberal Arts seeks a temporary Communications Assistant to assist with the website migration project for CLA's Office of Institutional Advancement. The Office of Institutional Advancement comprises development college communications, alumni relations, and public engagement. We support the college by growing a base of committed donors, enriching CLA's engagement with alumni and the public, and enhancing the overall reputation of the college through the stories of faculty recognition, research discoveries, student experiences, and alumni success. We bring the CLA Roadmap, our strategic plan, to life through a powerful, credible, and aligned narrative and brand. We are optimistic, team-oriented, and innovative.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Website Content Support (45%)
    • Support website content creation and management using Drupal, our content management system (CMS)
    • Assist with implementing content and navigation/structural changes identified through the CLA website content audit.
  • Creating CMS training documentation & materials (45%):
    • Build a library of training materials, including written documentation and screen casts
    • Document best practices for content types and categories in Drupal (headline length, teaser text length, photo naming conventions, event listings, etc.)
    • Schedule & host online (Zoom) training sessions with unit content contributors.
    • Documenting who has completed training and following up with people who have not.
  • Other communications and administrative tasks as needed. (10%)
Qualifications

Required skills and experience:

  • BA/BS degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, Art or related field, or 4 years combined equivalent education and experience.
  • Excellent project management and communication skills.
  • Ability to write and edit content and follow style guidelines.
  • Attention to detail, especially committed to accurate spelling and punctuation.
  • Strong technical aptitude and a basic knowledge of HTML is needed to create and manage digital communications. This is NOT a computer programming position; the ideal applicant will have experience updating websites using a content-management system.
  • Strong customer service skills and the ability to effectively multitask in a professional environment.
  • Comfortable taking direction, working collaboratively or independently, and meeting deadlines.
  • Familiarity with Google suite of tools (calendar, documents, spreadsheets, etc.).
  • Experience building and sending mass emails in Salesforce Marketing Cloud
  • Experience with Drupal content management system

Preferred qualifications:

  • Coursework or training in digital communications, technical writing, web editing, and/or web usability.
  • Experience collaborating on group projects.
Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $20.23 an hour; depending on education/qualifications/experience.
