About the Job: This position works within the IT Infrastructure Messaging, Windows & Virtualization team and reports directly to the IT Messaging, Windows & Virtualization Manager. The person that fills this role will primarily be responsible for the day-to-day operation, maintenance, and support of the organization's IT infrastructure, with a strong focus on disaster recovery, server management, virtualization, and cloud services to include: server performance, Microsoft Hyper-V, Azure, AWS, Active Directory, tier 2 technical support, and technical documentation. Secondary responsibilities include: automation coding/scripting, Google Workspace, and other duties as assigned. The Messaging, Windows & Virtualization department is responsible for delivering on-premise, cloud and disaster recovery infrastructure technologies that align with Vulcan's Strategic Pillars. The candidate filling this role will work directly with our following teams: networking, voice & telecommunications, database administration & release management, Linux & storage, end-user support, information security as well as our IT business partners. The successful candidate must have excellent verbal and written communication skills and will be able to thrive in a corporate environment working with technical peers, architects, developers, and the business. In addition, they will have the ability to excel in a team oriented environment; freely sharing information, learning from and teaching co-workers. What You'll Do: Disaster Recovery:
- Develop, implement, and maintain disaster recovery (DR) plans and procedures.
- Conduct regular DR testing and simulations.
- Manage backup and recovery solutions.
- Ensure the availability and recoverability of critical systems and data.
- Maintain documentation of DR procedures and recovery points.
- Work with vendors and other stakeholders to ensure DR capabilities meet business requirements.
Server Management:
- Install, configure, and maintain physical and virtual servers
- Monitor server performance, identify/resolve issues, and implement preventative measures.
- Implement and maintain server virtualization technologies, Hyper-V.
System Monitoring and Maintenance:
- Implement and maintain system monitoring tools.
- Proactively identify and resolve potential infrastructure issues.
- Perform regular system maintenance and updates.
Security:
- Implement and maintain security best practices.
- Monitor for security threats and vulnerabilities.
- Perform security audits and implement remediation plans.
Incident Management:
- Respond to and resolve infrastructure-related incidents and service requests.
Documentation:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of infrastructure configurations and procedures.
- Create and maintain knowledge base articles.
Code Automation:
- Create and maintain scripts using languages such as Powershell, Bash, and Python to automate repetitive tasks.
- Work closely with HelpDesk/End-User teams to ensure smooth and efficient processes.
Cloud Services:
- Administer and manage cloud-based services (e.g. Google Workspace).
- Deploy and manage cloud-based applications and services.
- Monitor cloud resource utilization and optimize costs.
Project Support:
- Assist with infrastructure-related projects, including planning, implementation, and testing.
- Provide technical support to other IT teams and end-users.
Qualifications
Skills You'll Need: Preferred Experience and Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 3 years of experience in infrastructure administration.
- Experience with disaster recovery planning and implementation, Windows server administration, Microsoft Hyper-V and cloud services (Google Workspace Administration).
- Strong understanding of IT infrastructure concepts and technologies.
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Bash, Python).
- Understanding of backup and recovery solutions.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
- Proactive and self-motivated.
- Commitment to continuous learning and improvement.

- Ability to work overtime as needed, including occasional nights and weekends.
- Strong listening and customer service skills.
- Ability to organize work effectively and meet deadlines.
- Ability to perform duties with moderate to minimal supervision.
- Some travel is required.
