Overview: Our client, near Glastonbury, CT is seeking a Senior IT Engineer. This is a senior-level technical role within the team, focusing on advanced problem resolution, infrastructure projects, and providing mentorship to junior staff members. Expertise in cloud and security, process improvement. Excellent communication with both clients and internal teams is a must.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and implement security solutions, including multi-factor authentication (MFA) from planning to deployment.
  • Serve as the escalation point for complex technical issues, offering expert guidance to resolve tickets and client concerns.
  • Lead cloud and on-premises migration projects, helping clients transition to cloud platforms such as Microsoft 365 while overseeing project execution.
  • Manage network infrastructure, including firewalls, switches, and wireless access points, ensuring optimal configuration and security.
  • Provide detailed documentation and training to both clients and internal teams, ensuring a smooth transfer of knowledge.
  • Offer guidance and mentorship to junior staff, helping develop their technical expertise and problem-solving skills.
  • Work closely with clients on onboarding and offboarding processes to ensure seamless transitions.
  • Contribute to internal processes by developing and refining standard operating procedures (SOPs) for team efficiency.
  • Actively participate in after-hours support rotations as needed.
Required Skills:
  • In-depth knowledge of Windows Server (versions up to 2025) and related systems.
  • Expertise in virtualization platforms, including VMware and Hyper-V.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 tools such as Exchange, OneDrive, SharePoint, Azure, and migration utilities.
  • Strong understanding of networking, including troubleshooting firewalls, VPNs, VLANs, and QoS.
  • Familiarity with security technologies such as endpoint detection and response (EDR), managed detection and response (MDR), and antivirus solutions.
  • Experience with VoIP systems is a plus.


Job Title: Senior IT Engineer
Location: Near Glastonbury, CT
Salary: DOE $85,000 - $95,000 with bonuses available

Determining compensation for this role (and others) at Vaco/Highspring depends upon a wide array of factors including but not limited to the individual's skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, office location and other geographic considerations, as well as other business and organizational needs. The individual may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses, and can participate in medical, dental, and vision benefits as well as the company's 401(k) retirement plan.
