The Office of Graduate Medical Education

Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled GME (Graduate Medical Education) Specialist to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have expertise in professional development, New Innovations content, and management within the graduate medical education landscape. This individual will play a crucial role in designing, implementing, and overseeing New Innovations training programs, while supporting the ongoing professional development of our program coordinators, program directors, and core faculty members.

Key Responsibilities:

Professional Development Oversight:

  • Design, implement, and evaluate professional development programs for program coordinators, program leadership, and faculty members.
  • Identify and address gaps in knowledge, skills, and competencies by creating tailored learning opportunities that align with the needs of the institution and medical field trends.
  • Foster a culture of continuous learning and self-improvement by providing educational resources, workshops, and mentorship opportunities.

Training Innovation & Curriculum Development:

  • Lead the development and implementation of innovative training models and curricula using innovative educational techniques, technologies, and methodologies.
  • Integrate New Innovations Knowledge Center learning, e-learning platforms, and other digital tools to enhance the educational experience.
  • Collaborate with faculty, staff, and other key stakeholders to develop and revise curricula to ensure alignment with current ACGME standards and best practices.

Management & Coordination:

  • Coordinate and manage all aspects of the GME training programs, including scheduling, logistics, and resource allocation.
  • Support the onboarding process for new residents and fellows, ensuring that training objectives are clearly communicated and supported through the residency tracking system.
  • Monitor progress and provide guidance to trainees to ensure they meet required milestones and competencies.

Evaluation & Continuous Improvement:

  • Develop and administer assessments to evaluate the effectiveness of professional development and training programs.
  • Regularly review feedback from participants, faculty, and other stakeholders to identify areas for improvement and implement adjustments.
  • Stay current with advancements in medical education and related technologies, ensuring that GME programs incorporate the latest evidence-based practices.

Stakeholder Engagement & Collaboration:

  • Function as a liaison between the GME office, residency/fellowship programs, faculty, and external stakeholders to foster collaboration and share best practices.
  • Partner with department heads and institutional leadership to support the strategic goals and priorities of the GME programs.
  • Represent the GME department at internal and external meetings, conferences, and committees.

Compliance & Accreditation:

  • Ensure all GME programs comply with ACGME (Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education) and other relevant accrediting bodies' standards and guidelines.
  • Assist with preparation for accreditation visits and audits, ensuring all necessary documentation and reports are up to date.

Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 3 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required, master's degree in education, Healthcare Administration, or related field preferred.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in medical education, GME management, or related professional development roles.
  • Strong background in curriculum development, training program management, and assessment.
  • Expertise in educational technologies, including e-learning platforms, residency management platforms, and digital training tools.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across diverse teams and with all levels of staff.
  • Knowledge of ACGME and other accreditation standards and requirements.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to new challenges and a continuously evolving healthcare and educational environment.

Preferred Skills:

  • Familiarity with project management software.
  • Experience with data analytics and program evaluation techniques.
  • Familiarity with innovative instructional methods, such as flipped classrooms, blended learning, and competency-based education.
Anticipated Hiring Range

$51,875 through $75,000 annually, commensurate with experience, education, and internal equity.
