Job Description

The Environmental, Health, & Safety Co-Op (EHS) or Intern is responsible for assisting in the implementation of the organization's health & safety programs.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Conduct Job Safety Analyses (JSA) where necessary, and conduct audits to ensure current JSA's are relevant and current.
  • Ensure SDS are accurate and develop a digital SDS database.
  • Audit and maintain acceptable levels of safety, emergency response, and first aid equipment.
  • Conduct assessments and implement provisions of disseminating information including but not limited to advice, signs, posters, barriers, and performance measures to warn employees of potential or actual safety hazards and/or to prevent access to areas where hazardous conditions exist.
  • Develops, recommends, and implements programs to assure compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal environmental regulations including documentation, reporting, permits, manifests, training, and policy development.
  • Develops and administers EH&S training and communication programs (i.e. HAZCOM, HAZMAT, etc.).
  • Extract and manipulate data from business systems for environmental reporting. Assist in the completion of periodic reports for air, storm water, wastewater, etc.
  • Work with managers and supervisors to constantly push safety standards.
  • Coordinate, plan, and implement the actions and recommendations of the Safety Committee in accordance with Regulations and Company Policy.
  • Orchestrate bi-weekly safety audits of the facility, equipment, and personnel to ensure compliance with all regulations and company policies and ensure a safe workplace, partnering with necessary parties to resolve any identified corrective actions.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Experience & Education

  • Current student pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Science, Chemistry, Safety Engineering, or related technical field.
  • Have working knowledge of WAC/OSHA Regulations/Codes and/or willingness to learn.
  • The ability to train and otherwise direct the actions of others where health or safety issues are concerned.
  • The ability to communicate clearly and concisely, orally and in writing.

For informational purposes only, the range of pay for this role is $22 to $27.25 US Dollar (USD) Hourly based on a variety of factors. Employees will receive 0 hours paid time off every year. Employees will also receive 10 paid holidays. Employees (and their families) are eligible to participate in the company's medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance. Employees are eligible to enroll in the Company's 401(k) plan.
This position requires use of information or access to production processes subject to national security controls under U.S. export control laws and regulations (including, but not limited to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and the Export Administration Regulations (EAR)). To be qualified to work in this facility, a successful applicant must be a U.S. Person, as defined in those regulations, and able to supply evidence of that qualification prior to starting work or be authorized to receive controlled information under a specific license or permission from the relevant government agency.
