The Role

Lumen is looking for a new member of our Federal Regulatory team. The person in this position will develop and execute an advocacy strategy to advance Lumen's federal objectives on a range of topics. In addition, the person in this role will serve as a counselor to the business on issues of federal telecommunications law.This is an exciting role with significant responsibility and independence that will report to the Vice President & Deputy General Counsel, Federal Regulatory Affairs.

This role is designated as fully remote, US.

The Main Responsibilities
  • Advise internal stakeholders on matters of federal communications and related law.
  • Advocate, orally and in writing, on behalf of the company before federal policymakers, principally the Federal Communications Commission.
  • Draft comments or other pleadings, memoranda, briefing materials, and other documents.
  • Engage with external stakeholders, such as trade associations and public interest groups, to advance Lumen's policy objectives.
  • Working with other stakeholders, assist in developing Lumen's position on policy issues.
  • As required, manage outside counsel and other resources in connection with assigned matters.
What We Look For in a Candidate

Required

  • Exceptional legal analytical and persuasive ability.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, flexibility, and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to act independently while staying aligned with management and company goals and objectives.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a non-legal audience.
  • Understanding of and experience with FCC processes.
  • Experience with federal communications law; wireline regulatory experience is particularly helpful.
  • J.D. from an accredited law school with strong academic credentials.
  • Admission to the Bar in a state where the attorney practices.
  • Generally, 10+ years of relevant legal experience at the FCC, in a law firm and/or with a company.
Compensation

This information reflects the anticipated base salary range for this position based on current national data. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Individual pay is based on skills, experience and other relevant factors.

Location Based Pay Ranges:

$171,447 - $228,596 in these states: AL, AR, AZ, FL, GA, IA, ID, IN, KS, KY, LA, ME, MO, MS, MT, ND, NE, NM, OH, OK, PA, SC, SD, TN, UT, VT, WI, WV, and WY.
$180,020 - $240,026 in these states: CO, HI, MI, MN, NC, NH, NV, OR, and RI.
$188,592 - $251,456 in these states: AK, CA, CT, DC, DE, IL, MA, MD, NJ, NY, TX, VA, and WA.
