Overview

This position provides and coordinates bereavement services and some spiritual care to HHC patients/families; also available to staff for bereavement/spiritual support. This position is available for educational outreach and support to community at large. This position will also assist with and participates in scheduled memorial services as scheduled. This is designated as a safety sensitive position.



Responsibilities

* Required to help manage, update, edit, and correct the bereavement activity with our software system so that we have as accurate information as it can be.

* Will be in charge of corporate bereavement mail process by either carrying out the duties themselves or overseeing volunteers for carrying out the duties. They will ensure the timeliness of our bereavement mail.

* Will be asked to contact bereaved clients and offer support to them as you are carrying out your duties within your role as a bereavement specialist, referring bereavement counseling needs to the Bereavement Coordinator.

* Will assist the Lead Chaplain in auditing the bereavement files and ensuring the best delivery of care available.

* Will help to lead and develop a bereavement volunteer program for our company.

* Attend required monthly meetings for Chaplains and other meetings required by supervisor or corporate offices.

* Participate as requested in office memorial services, open-houses, office memorial picnics for bereaved families.



Qualifications

    High School Diploma/GED.
  • Two year graduate work in ministry and/or CPE training or the equivalent preferred.
  • Ministry/pastoral work or bereavement training.
  • No formal pastoral care/bereavement care experience is required.
  • 1 year of Hospice experience is preferred.
  • Must be a licensed driver with an automobile that is insured in accordance with state/or organization requirements and is in good working order.
  • Attention to detail in composing, typing and proofing materials.
  • Excellent spelling, grammar and written communication skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain high level of confidentiality.
  • Ability to respond to Supervisor, patients, and families
  • Ability to define problems, collect data and establish facts.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Work, Excel, Outlook and other software programs
