Job Summary

This job is responsible for Environmental, Health & Safety management at the Apex, NC and Los Angeles, CA facilities. This position reports directly to the ATI Operations Engineering Director and indirectly to the Novanta EHS Director.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Responsibility for Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Management at the site and compliance to all local, state, and federal regulations
  • Support in the introduction, certification and re-certification of environmental management system in accordance with ISO 14001
  • Support in the introduction, certification and re-certification of health and safety management system in accordance with ISO 45001
  • Implementation of all tasks and measures within the scope of the responsibility of the EHS Management Representative in accordance with ISO 14001 / 45001
  • Support the introduction of Environmental, social, and governance (ESG) criteria
  • Monitoring the effectiveness of the EHS management system
  • Authority to issue directives to all employees in the implementation and maintenance of the management system
  • Participation in the design and continuation of corporate sustainability guidelines, projects and organization
  • Processing, analyzing and managing site incident reports
  • Management of safety data sheets and chemical inventory
  • Follow-up and annual revision of hazard and risk assessments
  • Control, analysis and publication of EHS performance indicators
  • Monitoring of control measures to achieve EHS objectives
  • Planning of quarterly EHS meetings
  • Contact person and coordinator of other personnel with EHS responsibilities at the site
  • Contact person for the Novanta EHS Manager
  • Administration and maintenance of EHS intranet/SharePoint

Training

  • All locations: Together with HR and the EHS Manager, manage all trainings of new and current employees for the EHS initial training, annual repetition training and newly created hazards.

General tasks

  • Maintain strict compliance with the quality, occupational safety and health, and environmental standards, and implementation of the instructions from the Corporate EHS Manager and GM

  • Very good knowledge of environmental aspects/occupational health and safety

  • Knowledge of industrial and/or medical technologies and devices

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand or sit for prolonged periods; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, or crouch.
