Sell all company products and services by calling on prospective and assigned customers. Essential Functions:
- Execute the promotion and sale of all SYD products and services that are applicable to each unique specific customer type. The products and services may vary depending on the territory and customer type ie: Industrial/OEM, Contractor, Commercial, Government or other.
- Utilize SYD Business Intelligence tool to develop and maintain customer specific sales plans within an assigned territory in order to keep customers informed about available services, supplies, prices and new products.
- Establish solid working relationships with Owners, Purchasing, Maintenance, MIS/IT, Engineering Managers, Project Managers, Estimators etc. at each customer site. Thoroughly understand each customers operations, including its products, services and served markets.
- On a consistent basis, schedule joint sales calls with SYD specialists, which include IMS/SIMS, Datacom, Industrial Automation, Lighting and Gear as needed, as well as joint calls with vendor and manufacturer representatives.
- Maintain account profiling activities, which include but are not limited to the identification of paths for introducing new technologies to customers; entertaining customers; uncovering customer needs for training and scheduling accordingly; working through vendors to identify product solutions that meet customer budgets; targeting competitive product/service opportunities for conversion; creating and maintaining a business plan for each account; routinely reviewing sales and gross margin history.
- Maintain records and prepare reports on sales activity including, but not limited to: the daily entry of sales calls, customer contact and financial information into the SYD CRM system, cancellation of outdated quotations; submission of business forecast reports to the Sales Manager, monthly, per their specifications.
- Determine priorities and effort given to each account based on sales potential and sales maintenance.
- Maintain a complete knowledge of selling techniques and the ability to close sales.
- Utilize the services of Inside Sales for expediting and researching of information on a customer's behalf.
- Maintain a working knowledge of product features, benefits and applications.
- Maintain a current, working knowledge of SYD business systems and electronic commerce as it pertains to web order entry, mobile order entry, the SYD web site/store.
- Set and maintain customer price levels.
- Check and respond to e-mails, voice mail and intercompany messages daily.
- Check SYD Intranet weekly.
- Assist Credit Managers in collecting past due funds from coded, delinquent accounts.
- Attend all required training and meetings.
- Submit timely expense reports.
- Provide emergency service and delivery for customers as required.
Competencies:
- Knowledge of electrical products and their function
- Monitor competitive activity and trends within the assigned territory; know the percentage of market share SYD services within each account in the territory.

- Meet established sales quotas by obtaining and renewing orders and or contracts.
- Demonstrate proficient use of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint products; be fluent with the use of the Internet for the purpose of accessing and utilizing vendor web sites.
- Proficient use of SYD business system, Phocas Business Information and CRM utilization.
- Demonstrate the ability to create a sales budget and control expenses within the parameters of the budget.
- Exemplify effective interpersonal and communication skills.
- Be able to validate a working knowledge of the all the SYD technologies supported by the company including but not limited to wiring devices, motor controls, lighting technologies, data communication products, fuses, power distribution, and basic automation control and drive devices. (PLC and Drive products are more specific to Industrial and OEM Sales Rep).
Supervisory Responsibility:
- This position is not a supervisory role and does not have any direct reports.
Work Environment: This job operates primarily while traveling to different customer and job sites with the balance of time in a standard office setting. This position requires the use of standard office equipment such as computers, internet, smart phones, and photocopiers. When at jobsites or customer sites you may be exposed to varying temperature conditions and may be required to wear PPE depending on the customers site requirements. Mental Demands:

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to have:
- the ability to stand, walk for moderately long distances, stoop, kneel, crouch, and manipulate (lift, carry, move) weight up to 50lbs
- Ability to use a keyboard and type proficiently
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus

Travel: This job relies heavily on frequent local travel to customer locations. Some overnight travel is required and the employee can reasonably expect on average 15-20% overnight travel to meet the demands of the position. A driver's license with a clean driving record is required for this position. Clearances and Certifications:
- Various clearances will be required and specific clearances may be required depending on customer or job site.
- U.S. Citizenship or U.S. Permanent Resident status required.

Education and Experience:
- As a minimum, possess a high school degree or GED equivalent. Candidates with a Bachelor's degree in Sales or Marketing or equivalent education and experience are preferred.
- Previous Inside Sales experience in the electrical distribution is a plus.
