Job Description

As a Corporate Development Business Lead, you will hold an important role within the Corporate Development organization partnering with leaders in our business segments and across our departments to support driving inorganic revenue growth as part of the strategic framework of Rockwell Automation. You will lead acquisitions, divestitures, minority investments and Joint Venture transactions from end-to-end to support global expansion in important capabilities and improved market access in strategic geographies. Primary responsibilities include identification of business spaces suitable for inorganic activities, developing acquisition profile characteristics, prioritizing target contact list and completing initial discussions, development relationships with important partners in target spaces, partnering within the business with business leaders to understand technical capabilities and gaps, establishing NDA, completing preliminary assessments and ensuring pre-LOI alignments, and leading financial modeling, valuation, and due diligence.

You will report to our VP Corporate Development.

Your Responsibilities:
  • Lead M&A activities by active engagement with responsible segment business leaders and other important partners in identification of targeted opportunities to accelerate execution of business growth strategy, including cross segment and function opportunities.
  • Lead M&A target and funnel activities - establishing profiles of potential investment areas of interest and targets, prospecting to maintain funnel, pursuit of targets including presentations to owners and investors.
  • Lead financial modeling, valuation and due diligence activities by working with the department and functional team leaders.
  • Lead critical communications with multiple partners and drive alignment across an executive audience.
  • Conduct external selling with targets - including with C suite members - to sell the value of Rockwell Automation.
  • Maintain investment banking and private equity external networks to drive deal flow.
  • Evaluate inorganic opportunities for potential fit, and to prioritize targets and manage funnel using all available resources.
  • Manage projects and drive results - track and execute deals from initial conversations through the closing process.
  • Support venture investing in critical business areas
  • Provide regular status updates and presentations in various company forums and to key executives.
  • Researches and utilizes market information and strategic intelligence to develop market analyses, business plans and support strategic initiatives.
The Essentials - You Will Have:
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening.
The Preferred - You Might Also Have:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Economics, Finance, business or other related field
  • Master's degree in business, finance, economics or other field
  • Five to eight years of combined experience in M&A, Investment Banking, Private Equity, Business Development, or Corporate Development, with technology companies that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job
  • Successful track record as a M&A or Corporate Development professional, including identification, evaluation, negotiation, and completion of M&A or other equivalent transactions which were critical to the growth of the organization.
  • Strong Finance or strategy background with an ability to evaluate market opportunities using all available resources
  • Work with and partner with all levels of the organization in a matrix environment
  • Knowledge of technology and ability to understand technology from domain experts in the business to understand company synergies
