JOB TITLE:

Assistant Librarian - Undergraduate Research Librarian

JOB PURPOSE:

The University of Wyoming Libraries seeks a creative, collaborative, and patron-focused librarian for the Undergraduate Research Librarian in the Research & Instruction Department. This librarian will serve as the Libraries' coordinator for undergraduate research, including support for UW Undergraduate Research & Inquiry Day, Wyoming Research Scholars, McNair Scholars, and Experiential Learning. This role includes developing a clear understanding of the teaching, research, and scholarly communication practices in assigned liaison areas; providing research consultation and instructional support as needed; and engaging with and communicating with liaison units on behalf of the Libraries. Collaborate with colleagues inside and outside the Research & Instruction Department for projects, assessment, and instruction.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Coordinate undergraduate research support for the following programs: Undergraduate Research & Inquiry Day, Wyoming Research Scholars, and McNair Scholars.
  • Support campus wide efforts to establish an Experiential Learning component as a part of undergraduate learning.
  • Coordinate outreach efforts for undergraduate research including developing workshops and providing targeted support for programs.
  • Participate in ongoing assessment of student learning, with a focus on undergraduate learning.
  • Coordinate with UW Libraries Digital Collections to foster collaboration between undergraduate research efforts and Open Access publishing.
  • Serve as the liaison librarian for assigned departments determined by incumbent's expertise and department needs and provide information literacy instruction for these departments as well as other Research & Instruction initiatives.

This position reports to the chair of Research & Instruction

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • ALA-accredited MLIS, MIS, or recognized equivalent by start date (Summer 2025 graduates are encouraged to apply)
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Experience supporting faculty and students with consultation services
  • Experience providing instruction and/or workshops to faculty, students, and staff in an academic setting
  • Knowledge of information literacy principles and applications of the Framework for Information Literacy in Higher Education
  • Knowledge of upper-level undergraduate research support
  • Knowledge of experiential learning principles
