Department/Organization: 504191 - Housing Custodial

Normal Work Schedule: Varies; 4:00am to 12:30pm, 7:00am to 3:30pm, 3:30pm to 12:00am

Job Summary: The Custodial Project Worker performs restorative, intermediate, and routine maintenance on all types of soft and hard floor surfaces. Provides technical skills and knowledge of the equipment, techniques, and procedures needed to respond to emergencies and special cleaning problems. Ensures proper chemical mixing and usage of stripper, proper application and removal of stripper off baseboard, proper brush selection and usage, proper rinsing and testing procedures.

Additional Department Summary: Performs restorative, intermediate, and routine maintenance on all types of soft and hard floor surfaces. Must have the technical skills and knowledge of the equipment, techniques, and procedures needed to respond to emergencies and/or special cleaning problems in all campus buildings. Specialty cleaning issues vary due to the complexity, age, and design of specific campus buildings. Must be able to complete essential tasks in the custodian job class and complete specialty projects in assigned timeline. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Required Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent and two (2) years of custodial experience.

Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications: Must be able to climb stairs and ladders. Must be able to reach and lift arms above head. Must be able to walk and/or stand for extended periods of time.

Must have the ability to use job-related tools, equipment, and chemical supplies. Closely observes and adheres to all safety rules and regulations as listed on product and equipment labels and as directed by management. Leaves work site clean and orderly. Ensures that all tools and equipment are cleaned and materials are secured.

Must meet regular attendance requirements. Must work overtime as scheduled. Must accomplish the essential functions, with or without reasonable accommodations, in a timely manner.

Must have valid U.S. driver's license. Must be at least 19 years of age at time of hire and have an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report that is in compliance with University policies. Applicants under the age of 21 will have some driving restrictions.

Final candidates must submit to and successfully pass a post-offer drug screen.

Skills and Knowledge:

Preferred Qualifications: One (1) year of experience on a similar crew responsible for maintaining hard/soft floor surfaces.
