Pharmacy Care Technician - Remote in CA

The Pharmacy Care Technician will support the Rx Support Center (RxSC) by assisting in medication renewal processing, prior authorization support, medication adherence measures and communication with providers and patients. This role ensures medication adherence, enhances patient care, and supports pharmacy operations through accurate and efficient workflow execution.

Schedule: Monday to Friday - 8 AM - 5 PM

Primary Responsibilities:



  • Medication Renewals

    • Process prescription renewal requests based on established protocols
    • Communicate with prescribers/care team regarding medication renewals
    • Verify medication information and ensure compliance with regulations
    • Proper documentation and follow-up


  • Prior Authorization Support

    • Assist in gathering necessary information for prior authorizations for pharmacy benefits
    • Collaborate with providers and insurance companies to resolve medication access issues
    • Proper documentation and follow-up


  • Workflow & Operational Support

    • Ensure documentation accuracy in the electronic medical record (EMR) system
    • Monitor and manage prescription refill queues efficiently
    • Identify workflow improvements to enhance operational efficiency


  • Compliance & Quality Assurance

    • Follow all company policies, state/federal regulations, and HIPAA requirements
    • Maintain accurate records and ensure quality assurance in medication processing

Required Qualifications:



  • High School Diploma/GED (or higher)
  • Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) in the state of California
  • 1+ years of Pharmacy Technician experience (retail, hospital, or managed care)


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Experience with electronic medical records (EPIC preferred)
  • Prior experience in refill authorization or medication adherence programs is desirable
  • Proficiency in using Epic

  • Ability to work independently and within a team
  • Ability to handle a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities

The salary range for this role is $16.88 to $33.22 per hour based on full-time employment. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
