First Merchants Bank is seeking a Treasury Management Relationship Associate to join our team! Treasury Management Relationship Associate is responsible to manage all levels of the client's treasury management operating relationship for treasury management solutions and deposits in consultation with the Treasury Management Sales Officer. This position is pivotal in ensuring the delivery of new accounts, maintenance and changes for client's services, responding to client inquiries, and responding to risks associated with fraud and ach.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Customer Service

    • Provide tier 1 problem resolution for treasury management clients, employing independent judgment to resolve complex and technical issues swiftly. Offer training and guidance on new and existing products and services, ensuring clients are well-informed on features, functionalities, and enhancements.
    • Quickly identify client concerns related to treasury services, working cross-functional with internal teams to ensure timely resolution of issues, such as payment delays or system errors.


  • ACH

    • Monitor and review ACH transactions that exceed established limits, providing timely recommendations for decision making. Evaluate risk exposure and determine appropriate actions, such as approving exceptions, adjusting limits, or requiring additional security measures. Ensure adherence to bank policies while balancing client needs and mitigating risk.


  • New Accounts & Maintenance

    • Facilitate the opening of all commercial checking and savings accounts for Treasury Management clients ensuring all documentation is accurate and complete to streamline onboarding.
    • Ensure all client agreements and documentation comply with all bank policy and procedures, such as due diligence questions, Know Your Customer, and Certified Beneficial Ownership, all the while handling confidential information.


  • Fraud

    • Quickly respond to fraud incidents and coordinate the end-to-end by serving as the liaison between the client, internal fraud team, Treasury Management Officer, and Relationship Manager.
    • Recognize and respond to 'red flags' that can be related to fraud or high-risk situations. As first responders, it is critical this position understands and responds based on the time critical and urgency around situations and escalates to management if necessary.




In order to be successful in this position, we require the following:



  • High school diploma or equivalency (GED).
  • One (1) year of customer service experience.
  • One (1) year of retail, financial sales, or call/contact center experience.
  • One (1) year of Microsoft Outlook applications experience.


The following would be a plus:



  • Treasury Management experience.
